Local church builds a yurt

By July 21, 2004

USA (MNN)–Most people have no idea what a ‘yurt’ is, or how it could change a life.

But, for a group of kids at the Felton Bible Church in Felton, California, they know exactly what it is. In fact, The Evangelical Free Church of America reports children at the VBS program raised over 15-hundred dollars towards the building of the youth camp in Mongolia.

In the area where they are hoping to see the camp, there are several minority groups that remain unreached with the Gospel.

The goal is to construct Mongolian yurts as cabins, a dining hall, meeting rooms, and a cement block building for kitchen, showers, and storage that can be used starting in the summer of 2004 to accommodate about 80 campers and American counselors.

Kids are attracted to the camps by outdoor recreational opportunities and opportunity to interact with native English speakers. The camps are an effective way to let kids hear for the first time about Jesus.
