Low caste leader proclaims Christ in India

By October 26, 2004

India (MNN) — The leader of a low caste untouchable group in India has professed Christ and is now encouraging millions to convert.

Bibles for the World’s Rochunga Pudaite tells us about Tikam Singh. “Tikam Singh is an untouchable outcast in India and he’s the leader and has 30-million following (him). Tikam Singh received the Lord as Savior.” Singh was baptized two months ago and this month held a rally in India where he encouraged thousands in attendance to seek Christ.

Up to 20,000 people attended the rally in Utter Pradesh. Flooding prohibited many from participating as more than 100,000 were expected.

500 people made commitments to Christ during the rally. Pudaite says this isn’t the only rally Singh has planned. “He wants to hold rallies like this one month after another so that all the 300-million outcast Hindus will become followers of Jesus Christ.”

Bible for the World is printing Gospels of John to help these new believers. Funding is needed for this distribution. Pray that many will respond.
