Nearly 500 short-term mission trip opportunities at STMDB.org

By March 14, 2006

USA (MNN) — Recent statistics indicate the number of people going on short-term mission trips is increasing by 20% each year. Many churches are organizing them on their own, while others need help getting connected. Either way, Mission Network News has a way to connect you to trips all over the world. It’s through our Short-term Missions Database.

STMDB.org is database of mission trip opportunities with organization you hear about on our radio broadcast, or through our daily email updates. Anchor and Executive Director of MNN Greg Yoder says, “We’re here to be a resource for Christians who want to get a taste of missions, but they just don’t know where to begin.”

Today MNN has nearly 500 mission trips in our database. “It’s searchable by country, cost, type of outreach, ministry and more. We wanted to make it as searchable and as friendly as possible to help both veteran short-term mission trip travelers or first-timers,” says Yoder.

“The goal is simple,” Yoder says, “We want Christians to be ‘doers of the word and not hearers only.’ What better way to be a doer than by going and helping a missionary do the work of the Lord? Perhaps it’s in construction, vacation Bible school teaching, orphan outreach, whatever it is, it’s something that may just motivate someone to get more involved in missions.”

Not only can you get information about trips, you can also request additional information right on the website. No phone calls, other websites to visits, or letters. It’s all done right on-line.

You can search through the listings to find a trip that fits you or take a look at the Mission Trip in Focus. Search by the type of ministry, country, date, cost, mission agency, and more.

There are two ways to get to the database. You can either click on the “Go On A Trip” tab on the left side of the page, or you can go to www.STMDB.org.
