New vision for Bible translation marks a high for volunteer needs.

By May 23, 2006

International (MNN)–There are nearly 25-hundred languages still needing Bible translation, according to Wycliffe Associates.

Last year, over 12-hundred volunteers served in assignments worldwide. As part of their strategic planning, they set a goal to increase the number of volunteers actively supporting Bible translation to five thousand volunteers per year beginning 2006.

Wycliffe Associates acknowledges that their volunteers bring a lifetime of experience to their assignments. President Bruce Smith sums it up this way. “As we evaluate our current effectiveness, we recognize that there are many areas we can improve in order to increase our support for Bible translation worldwide and be a blessing to the volunteers who serve with us.”

The Wycliffe Associates’ leadership team is committed to their support for volunteers to provide personnel for Scripture translation.
