According to our sources, the political conflict that is generating the need for peace talks stems primarily from opposing parties affiliated with the Dinka and Nuer. The Nuba seemed to be involved in the more sectarian conflict issues, but aren’t as connected in the political realm. South Sudan’s troubles are multi-layered and deeply rooted. It wasn’t our intent to slight any one element, only to acknowledge that there are many and they are shifting. The focus of the story was to indicate that South Sudan’s crises are largely ignored on the global stage.
