(Indonesia)–Topping the news, following retaliatory strikes on Afghanistan, the United States is telling its citizens to prepare for a possible evacuation from Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim nation. A hardline Islamic group gave President Megawati Sukarnoputri an ultimatum to either sever ties with the West or face violent reprisals. The Association of Christian Schools International’s Dave Wilcox says they are concerned. “Of course, the school is a sitting duck. There’s no way that you can adequately protect a school from those who seek to cause physical harm. We have sent information to schools to make absolutely sure that they have all components and contingency and crisis plans in place and that they are beginning to implement those.” Wilcox urges prayer. “There are many Indonesians who work at these Christian schools who will not be able to flee the country. So, as we pray for everyone’s safety, we should make sure that we remember all of our brothers and sisters in Christ.”
