(Afghanistan)–We begin today in Afghanistan where food aid is desperately needed among the Afghan refugees. World Concern and Food for the Hungry are working together to meet the needs of 38-thousand displaced people. World Concern’s Kelly Miller. “For 35-dollars a month you can provide food for one family. That will include two large blankets for their families and clothing items and such along with that food. The rush is to get food there now because in the North of Afghanistan it’s very, very snowy during the winter and many of the people become inaccessible.” Food for the Hungry’s Shawn Walsh says the situation in one camp isn’t good. “Our partners showed us pictures and there were no children under two years old alive. They’d all died at that one camp. They are asking why we are there and our response is that we are here as a Christian outreach to serve and to love the people who are suffering.”
