(India) — Headlining today’s news, the conflict between India and Pakistan is beginning to have an impact on evangelism in the region. East West Ministries John Maisel says they were planning on sending a team to India this week to help at a training center teaching Christians from Bhutan, Nepal and India. “We were getting ready to send in a team for six weeks to do evangelism. We were trying to develop a house church involvement, but we just had to cancel that because the State Department has come out with a warning, basically restricting Americans from traveling to Pakistan or to India.” However, because nationals are doing the work, ministry will continue. Maisel says funding is greatly needed. “We focus a lot on what we call the unreached people groups and the giving in reaching the unreached is down significantly. So, it’s hard for me to understand, but 9-11 has definitely affected the giving in unreached people.”
