(Papua New Guinea)–Despite missionary efforts to translate scripture in Papua New Guinea the need for Bible translation continues there. That’s the word from David Howard, a Bible translator and missionary with Wycliffe Bible Translators. We asked Howard if the work is half done. “No, not even close. There are over 800 languages. We’ve done approximately over 120 New Testament translations and I know they’ve completed one complete one complete Bible. There are other organizations that are working there as well.” Howard says while they’re working hard to translate scripture, he says there is at least one great need. “We lack the personnel to be able to do the job on our own, and of course that’s why we’re looking to the Lord to bring in people from other organizations and from churches in Papua New Guinea to put forth people that can work on translation.” Howard and his family are staying at D & D Missionary Homes in Florida while on furlough.
