(Burundi)–The message of the Gospel is being spread via radio on the African continent. Pam Hargis is with HCJB World Radio. “We have a ministry that we call turn the radios on in Africa. And, we just made the first shipment of these permanently tuned radios to Burundi. But, it’s just the first in a series of shipments. At this point we have 3,400 radios that have either been gifted or pledged.” However, that’s far short of their 100-thousand radio goal. Hargis says a 25-dollar gift is able to place a radio in someone’s hands. She says this program is strategic. “In many countries, people, even if you could hand them a Bible in their language the illiteracy rate is so huge they couldn’t read it. So, it’s just a wonderful effort on the part of folks in the United States who say, I want to share my faith, let’s send a radio out.”
