(Jamaica)–Meanwhile, AWANA Clubs International is using the internet to encourage youth groups to go to the field short term. AWANA’s Director of Youth Ministries Jeff Geisel (GY-suhl) says from July 25th through the 28th they’ll be airing a “nearly live” web cast from Jamaica. “They’re going to Discovery Bay. They’ll have a camera crew that actually follows them, does interviews with the team members individually and also just follows the projects that they’ll be doing – the different activities and outreach and thing that they’ll be involved with.” Geisel says they’re sending 22 “Missionary-In-Training” teams to the field this year, but AWANA would like to see more go next year. He thinks this webcast will help. “We want to get the word out that we have a lot of opportunities internationally and we want to encourage church youth groups and individuals to be involved in this as much as possible. There’s a lot going on, a lot to be done, and we’ll never have enough team members to fill all the needs.”
