(USA)–And finally, an evangelical organization is facing a challenge from the United Nations. Since 1975 the Baptist World Alliance has enjoyed Non-governmental Organization status by the U-N. However, agency officials were notified by the Economic and Social Council that their accreditation is at risk. Officials say the group has some concerns about BWA’s work in certain human rights efforts. BWA’s general secretary Denton Lotz says he would find it very strange and indeed an injustice if they were denied accreditation.
