Dominican Republic (MNN)–The race is on to finish a school expansion project in the Dominican Republic.

Worldwide Christian Schools is building a new three-story facility for the Filadelfia Christian School in Cristo Rey.

It needs to be finished by Friday, when school officially begins.

When it is completed, Cristo Rey will have increased the capacity of the school from 311 to 521 students. It all started in 1983, with a kindergarten in the church building. The school immediately filled a great need in the community and the second year, two more grade levels were added.

The school outgrew the capacity within the church building and an addition was added behind the church. Since then, they again outgrew the facilities, packing kindergarten through eighth grade in, with 260 students enrolled.

Worldwide’s vision is to glorify God by ensuring that all people have access to Christian education.
