Mission Cry President Jason Woolford says, “There are so many organizations and churches that give Bibles to the point that the average home, not the saved home, not the Christian home, the average home in America has 6 Bibles sitting on its shelf.”

Mission Cry began its Bible-sending ministry 70 years ago when a junk dealer found a Bible sitting in a garbage can.
Amid the devastating flash floods that hit Uttarakhand, India, on Tuesday, Mission Cry has a container with Bibles and Christian resources on the way to northern India.

India (MNN) — After intense flooding in the Himalayan village of Dharali, in the state of Uttarakhand, India, over 190 people have been rescued, four have been killed, and 100 remain missing.

The northern region of the country is set to receive a distribution of Bibles and Christian resources soon from Mission Cry, although distributing to this area means navigating state anti-conversion laws.

“It is against the law in the country of India, via their president, to send Bibles,” says Mission Cry President, Reverend Jason Woolford. “That has not stopped us.”

“If you convert from being a Christian and ask Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior, you could be at (risk) of death, imprisonment, for sure. And we’ve seen this already in India and in Pakistan, where churches are being destroyed, set on fire,” says Woolford.

“There’s a very real spiritual battle taking place, and our brothers and sisters are crying out for the Word of God.”

In Africa, where Boko Haram came in, a missionary there told Woolford, “Reverend, our people, your brothers and sisters, are being killed or murdered, beaten for a God that they can’t even read about.”

The same is happening in Northern India and around the globe as brothers and sisters seek the ability to read about the one true God.

The average American has six Bibles on their shelves. In places of poverty, people cannot afford the very book they defend. When they receive a Bible from someone with plenty, they cherish the book and love it, thankful for the opportunity.

Mission Cry needs the materials to send and the resources to send them.

“When we send a container, it (costs) $11,000, but that has half a million dollars worth of free Bibles and Christian books in it. (With) this particular container to India, we have to pay more, and we have to do things to basically give money to some people to be able to get this cleared secretly with no issues,” says Woolford.

Please pray that when this container arrives, it’s cleared with no issues and that God will provide the funds for the mission. Pray that God will prompt and break the hearts of people at the right times to come alongside the ministry. Pray also for the ministry and leadership for protection as they go into areas of spiritual upheaval. Pray for the families and individuals whose homes and lives have been destroyed or lost by the flood. Pray that God will work through this event to reach people.

Mission Cry is having a bible drive and is asking people to go through their homes to look for Bibles, go to thrift stores, garage sales, and local bookstores, and tell them about Mission Cry.

For locals to the Fowlerville, Michigan area, donations can be delivered in person; otherwise, donations can be shipped.

Engage your congregation in this drive and let the world hear your mission cry. Go to missioncry.com or contact the organization at 517-223-3193.

Uganda (MNN) -- Ministry receives testimony of fruits of Bible drive

Uganda (MNN) — Prisons might be the least-expected place for evangelists to be raised up. But that is exactly what happened in Uganda.

Love Packages' Bible drive has been sending magazines and Bibles to a prison ministry in Uganda. Steve Schmidt of Love Packages recently received testimony from a distributor who works with the prison ministry. The distributor told of the great transformations that God is doing through the Bible drive.

"Some of these men have had such a radical change in their life that many of them had been released before their time–simply because they've had such a change. And now, they're out working in the Kampala, Uganda area and surrounding areas as evangelists," Schmidt explained.

It may be difficult in more fortunate countries to grasp the fact that in some places pastors and Christian colleges don't have a single Bible. The resources that Love Packages
receives go toward these places but also to places like the prison ministry.

Remembering that God has blessed Christians to be a blessing will help raise up more men like these inmates. Schmidt says, "We have an abundance in our country–more than we
could ever possibly use ourselves. And if we'll just put those items in third world countries, there are people all over the world who desperately need those things, who are hungry for those things, and we'll see their lives changed eternally if we'll do that."

Schmidt asks you to pray that "we'd come to a better understanding of the need" for Bibles and Christian literature around the
world.

USA (MNN) -- A Christian resource ministry is still tallying Bible drive results in the U.S.

USA (MNN) — Love Packages' first-ever national Bible drive
is still getting response. Last month,
Love Packages' Steve Schmidt said they were trying to get churches across the
United States to do a Bible drive.

Christians were encouraged to donate unused, extra Bibles to
Love Packages for use in the under-resourced Third World Church. "I would expect that, before the end of
the year, from the August Bible drive we're going to get close to our goal
of 200,000. We have Bibles coming in everyday. We have people bringing
them in by the carloads (and) truckloads."

Each container they send overseas contains 1 million pieces
of literature. It gets into the hands
of Christians because of partnerships, Schmidt explains. "We've set up
distribution points, different places in the world with Every Home For Christ,
with Campus Crusade, with a number of evangelical fellowships…different
places in the world. We send it to them. They have a better idea of the people who are in need of it, and then we
get reports back. We're like the supply
line, I suppose."

Each container they send overseas contains 1 million pieces
of literature. It's a pretty good
return, according to Schmidt. He says the
statistics indicate that "every piece of literature that we put on the field
is going to be read by a minimum of 20 people."

The impact is far-reaching. One recipient from Iraq writes, "I get your supplies every month. There
are evangelical churches springing up all the time. Most of the churches here
are old and in need of financial support. I am attaching a couple of photos of
the condition of the churches with orphanages in the Baghdad area. The income
is very low, and its amazing they can even operate. That's where your Arabic literature comes in
so nicely. They now have literature to go out into the communities and pass out
about Jesus. This brings in more people and increased the income somewhat.
Everyone here likes to readm even the Muslims. Some will read a Bible if you
give it to them. This is a great blessing in itself. God is moving in Iraq, and
conversions are being seen. The task is slow but steady. Please pray for a
bountiful harvest as God opens the doorways. Keep in touch, please, as you are a
large part of this ministry."

If you have extra Bibles, tracts, dictionaries, Bible
dictionaries, concordances, commentaries, Christian books, or Sunday School
Curriculum that's not being used, consider sending it to Love Packages. Click here for details.

On Schmidt's recent trip to Kenya, he visited one of their Bible distribution friends. As the man looked up, he saw three women passing on a goat trail.

He shouted, " ‘Do you know the man that sends the Bibles and books? This is him!" Schmidt reports their reaction: "Those ladies kinda hiked their skirt up a little bit and ran to me as fast as they could. When they got there, they began to kiss my hands and began to cry. One lady just cried and cried and cried. She said ‘I prayed for four years
that somebody, somehow would be able to find me a Bible!'"

Love Packages' August Bible Drive can answer many more prayers like this. It may be their first ever nation-wide Bible Drive. Even English Bibles can reach millions of people in India, Liberia and Zambia.

Their goal is to reach 500,00 Bibles. With the current amount of literature leaving
their organization every week, at least 50-million people will be reading Christian literature and Bibles from these shipments.

"We have several thousand churches already involved, and maybe your church would like to get involved, too. Collect all those Bibles that are just sitting on people's shelves, and send them to us. We'll put them to good use all around the world," said Schmidt.
