USA (MNN) — The assassination of Charlie Kirk is affecting young people with spiritual questions.

USA (MNN) — In the weeks since the assassination of political speaker and Christian, Charlie Kirk, churches across the United States have reported a significant surge in attendance – especially among young people.

According to Newman Ministry, some congregations are seeing as much as a 15% increase.

Pews are overflowing. Churchgoers are parking on lawns and side streets. Bible sales are soaring, with over one million more sold than this time last year.

Generation Z grew up in a culture saturated by moral relativism and the idea that “your truth” is all that matters. Now, many are realizing they want real. They want authentic. They want Truth.

And people are seeking it in Jesus — the Way, the Truth, and the Life. (John 14:6)

What is Revival?

“I think it’s obvious that God is speaking,” says Stan Key, Minister-at-Large with OneWay Ministries. “It’s not obvious what He is saying. But it’s obvious that through the events of Charlie Kirk’s death, particularly, the whole country is talking about the Gospel in his memorial service. I don’t think I’ve ever heard the word Jesus named more frequently than was named there by our religious leaders and our political leaders.”

Critics were quick to question the motives of those who shared the Gospel at Kirk’s memorial service on September 21, which was attended by 100,000 people and viewed by millions more online.

Yet, as the Gospel is proclaimed, the question of motive is addressed by the Apostle Paul in Philippians 1:18: “What does it matter? Only that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is proclaimed, and in this I rejoice.”

If this is the beginning of a spiritual revival in America, Key encourages believers not to miss what the Holy Spirit is doing.

“A lot of people think revival is enthusiasm. It’s sort of like a pep rally before a big game. ‘Let’s just get everybody in the stands, turn up the music, and have an emotionally charged speech.’ That’s emotionalism. There’s a place for that. I like pep rallies in sports, and I like emotion in worship! I get goosebumps. I sometimes cry. That’s not necessarily revival.

“Revival is when the Spirit of Holiness — the Holy Spirit, the sanctifying Spirit — is manifestly present…. And what does the Holy Spirit typically do? Well, He convicts of sin. He brings people to repentance. There’s a hunger and thirst for God, not for the secondary elements, but for God. The Word of God is present, the spirit of prayer, and the spirit of brokenness.”

Historic examples of spiritual revival in the U.S. include the Asbury Revivals of 1970 and 2023. Key’s wife was a student during the 1970 revival, and Key himself attended soon after.

He recalls, “People just said God was there. It wasn’t about a preacher, it wasn’t about music, it wasn’t about signs and wonders. It was about a palpable awareness that the Spirit of God is here.”

The Heart of Revival and Reformation

At the heart of revival, Key says, must be the true Gospel. “To be candid, I think my generation has had a very muddled understanding of the Gospel. We have tended to understand the Gospel in terms of the plan of salvation. ‘God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. He can forgive your sins, so when you die several decades from now, you can go to Heaven.’ That’s not the Gospel. That’s the plan of salvation.

“I think the first priority of the Church today is, ‘Do we have the Gospel right?’” Key emphasizes, “It’s not about helping us go to Heaven. It’s so we can have the image of God restored in our lives…. The world is under new management. Jesus is Lord. That’s the Gospel.”

In light of the Gospel, how then should we live our lives?

“If we can get the Gospel right, not only will revival come, but reformation will come,” says Key.

Reformation happens when revival takes root in daily life by engaging with God’s Word. Cambridge Dictionary defines reformation as “the act of making an improvement, especially by changing a person’s behavior or the structure of something.”

Whether America is on the brink of revival remains to be seen.

But one thing is certain: People are talking about Jesus.

Put simply, Key says, “Revival is when the life of God comes upon God’s people to bring them to life again.”

Pray for this spiritual hunger to deepen across the United States as people give their hearts and lives to King Jesus.

USA (MNN) -- Fall semester questions loom over college students

USA (MNN) — Let’s talk about the big question hanging over every college student – what will my college do for the fall semester? The pandemic put much of life on hold, and while some areas are going back to semi-normal, universities have a tough call.

York Moore with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship has met with several college and university leaders across the U.S. to discuss what the future holds. He says, “The honest answer is really nobody knows. I know that some universities are starting to make the decision not to open back up in-class, in-person learning and that’s really tough. My guess is that we’re going to see a real mixture of universities deciding to bring students back versus e-learning as we continue on in the fall.

(Photo courtesy of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship via Becket Law Media Kit)

“There’s a financial reality to this as well. It’s not just about keeping students safe. It’s also about running the business of the university. That might sound callous but universities are not charities. They’re not non-profits. They are in business, many of them, to make money. So we’re going to have to see.”

It’s not just higher education that’s impacted by fall semester plans.

Moore says, “Think all about the implications that this has for the small-businesswoman that sets up a deli down the street from a major university, the dry cleaners,…all kinds of businesses that kind of rely on the ecosystem of the university. Campus ministries are no exception. We might not be for-profit small businesses down the street, but the reality is we depend on the ecosystem of the university to exist.

“Regardless, I think we’re in for a new normal. The new normal is going to require people to modify their behavior, including campus ministries. So we’re really gearing up with our partners and within InterVarsity to ask those questions [and] answer those questions. What will be our contingency plan as we return to any kind of circumstance?”

No matter the campus, however, InterVarsity is persisting to be Christ’s light to college students. InterVarsity chapters are getting creative with how they connect and build relationships, and Moore says they’re seeing a positive response.

(Photo courtesy of Ryan Jacobsen via Unsplash)

“We have weekly large groups that have been attended by thousands of students across the country. That’s great news! Many of our partners with InterVarsity and the EveryCampus movement have been doing large-scale gatherings, simulcast, pre-recorded production shows, but that’s only temporary. We have to figure out what a new normal looks like for serving students.”

Right now, InterVarsity would be greatly encouraged by your support, involvement, and prayers. If you would like to give to InverVarsity, click here!

InterVarsity has also partnered with the EveryCampus movement to foster spiritual revival at every college and university across the US. They recently celebrated crossing the finish line for prayer walking every US campus. But it’s not too late for you to get involved! Click here to learn more about EveryCampus.

Finally, please pray for Gospel campus ministries like InterVarsity. Ask God to grant their campus leaders wisdom and encouragement as they reach out to college students with Jesus’s love.

“We do believe that God is in this,” Moore says. “In fact, I believe that what we’re actually going to witness as a result of COVID-19 is going to be a great move of God.”

USA (MNN) -- InterVarsity moves ministry online after college campuses send students home to avoid COVID-19

USA (MNN) — InterVarsity Christian Fellowship has a goal; bring a campus ministry presence to every college campus in the United States with more than 1,000 enrolled students before the year 2030. They call it their 2030 Calling.

But that goal is much harder to reach when colleges and universities across the nation send their students home during a health crisis.

Going Online

“This disruption at first… created a slowdown or a pause in our ability to get to new campuses because you physically couldn’t go to campuses; they were closing,” says Jason Thomas of InterVarsity. “That had a significant short term disruption to our work, but we made a pretty significant shift fairly quickly to try to move ministry online wherever we could.”

InterVarsity has a specific team whose sole purpose is to consider effective online ministry, including small groups, prayer meetings, and leadership development. They’re even considering a large group meeting that would involve worship and a main speaker.

So when COVID-19 forced many schools to close their doors, InterVarsity stepped up to the plate with digital alternatives to in-person campus ministry. So far, students are responding positively.

“What we’ve seen, interestingly, has been a large number of new students getting involved with Intervarsity because they find that getting plugged in through digital means either is easier to do than walking into a new meeting or new dorm room or they’re hungry or eager,” Thomas says.

Screenshot of one online small group meeting (Photo courtesy of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship)

Students are looking for answers and community in a world without either of those things. InterVarsity wants to fill that gap for them.

What Comes After

Right now, the endgame of the U.S. response to COVID-19 is uncertain. Universities are still considering how to proceed on the other side of quarantine, and even if they deem it safe to readmit students to campus, they may not turn away from their current digital approaches.

If more classes go online and more students pursue digital education, InterVarsity wants to meet them there.

“As campuses get better at teaching, I think you’ll see a pretty significant jump into this space. At least that’s what we’re anticipating and trying to be prepared for both,” Thomas says. “We believe that we’re going to have to be ready to do a dual platform kind of ministry, the kind where we do it traditionally on campus meeting face to face in dorm rooms as well as have a second platform that’s online trying to reach students through digital means.”

Do Your Part

Want to help? You don’t have to wait for students to come back to campus. InterVarsity already has space for volunteers to provide online services and discipleship measures. Whether you’re partnering with InterVarsity or simply looking for ways to do ministry from your own home, InterVarsity has resources for you right here. If you want to connect with students directly, contact InterVarsity and ask how you could get involved.

Do you know high schoolers or college students looking for ways to connect during quarantine? Every Friday, InterVarsity hosts an event called InterVarsity Live to help people do just that.

An upcoming online student workshop (Image courtesy of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship)

But there’s one more group who needs help and prayer: faculty. Thomas points out that many faculty are experiencing their own challenges and fears. Consider reaching out to any faculty you may know to show them support, and even if you don’t know anyone personally, keep them in your prayers.

And whoever you are, have hope.

“We don’t know that we know exactly what will happen, but we’re really open to hearing and listening to what the Lord is doing in the midst of this,” Thomas says ”I think we’re very eager to see what the Lord will do to draw people to himself.

“We’ve invited folks to consider what other losses they’ve experienced and how do you lament those losses? How do you grieve those things? And in some ways, going through that door might lead you to increase hope over time, even though you might feel despair in the present.”

United States (MNN) -- InterVarsity Christian Fellowship focuses on reaching Native students.

USA (MNN) – A U.S. campus ministry is reaching the hearts of Native American young people.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship began its Native-specific ministry in 2000. Today, the program is changing lives, perceptions, and even worship styles.

One Journey Creates a Path

Photo courtesy of Patrick Fore via Unsplash

Megan Murdock Krischke joined InterVarsity as a student, then went on to join the staff after graduation. Krischke is the daughter of a Cherokee mother and a Wyandotte father, so it didn’t take long for her to notice there was nothing for Native students among InterVarsity’s multi-ethnic ministries.

“I knew I was Native and just cared about everyone having a place at the table,” Murdock Krischke says.

“My dream for my life… is that by the time I die, Native communities would find it laughable that they ever considered Jesus the ‘white man’s God’. Because the reality is, He’s… an ethnic man, a tribal man.”

In 2016, Murdock Krischke became InterVarsity’s first-ever national Native Ministries Coordinator. She identifies five thresholds each Native person must cross in their journey of faith.

Step One: Trust

The first step is the hardest one: beginning to trust Christians. Given historic relations between Christians and Native communities, this can be a long and difficult process.

“The Church has mistreated Native people and communicated that they’re not made in the image of God… that’s just a big threshold [to cross],” Murdock Krishke says.

Several years ago, Murdock Krishke and her husband began a Native-specific chapter at Fort Lewis College in Colorado. Describing her experience gaining the community’s trust, Murdock Krishke says, “When we first came to Fort Lewis, they wouldn’t even let us hang a poster in the Native Student Center. But, in year seven, we had a key.”

Step Two: Curiosity

Cultivating curiosity is a little easier, Murdock Krischke says. When believers express their faith through Native culture, it sparks curiosity.

“They have had the Church telling them ‘You can’t do that’, and they’ve had traditionalists saying ‘You can’t do that’,” she says of incorporating faith and Native culture.

InterVarsity’s Native ministry incorporates Native drums in worship and frybread in communion, giving a familiar feel to things that were formerly foreign.

Step Three: Opening to Change

After crossing the first two thresholds, some young people begin to “test the waters” by participating in community worship, Murdock Krischke says. From there, they may attend a Bible study. These steps mark the transition to a deeper level.

Step Four: Targeted Seeking

Change can be difficult, no matter your ethnic background. Many Native young people question how following Christ could impact their relationships at home.

For example, “We had a student whose father was very anti-Christian…before she could make a decision to follow Jesus, she needed to have a conversation with her dad…and seek His blessing,” Murdock Krischke says.

Though it was scary for this student, her father supported her decision. Acceptance can make it easier for students to cross the final threshold: becoming a Jesus-follower.

Step Five: Following Christ

Although these thresholds are common to most Native believers, the path isn’t always linear.

“They can kind of loop around and move forward and backward. But, [this is] a general journey we see students go through as they’re making faith decisions,” Murdock Krischke says.

Your next steps

Murdock Krishke encourages U.S. believers to learn about the Native people of their region. See an interactive map of Native lands here.

Believers can also support organizational leadership. Each staff member raises individual support and, for Native leadership, the combination of wary communities and limited resources can make this difficult. Donate here.

InterVarsity is working to build relationships with tribal colleges. Pray for responsiveness and close relationships. Ask the Lord for an atmosphere of trust, and pray Native students will be loved and served.

USA (MNN) -- Have you prayer walked a local campus?

USA (MNN) — InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is a part of the EveryCampus Initiative. It is a movement to have a Gospel witness on every college campus by 2030. Currently, the majority of college campuses have no Gospel witness present. However, InterVarsity firmly believes the mission on campus begins with prayer. The goal is to have every campus prayer walked by 2020. Now, we’re in the final countdown.

Prayer Walk a Campus

There are only eight days left in 2019, and just over 1000 college campuses in the United States still need prayer walkers. Will you help prayer walk the remaining campuses?

(Photo courtesy of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship via Becket Law Media Kit)

“Any of your listeners could visit EveryCampus.com. And when you go there, there’s a really easy way to search for a campus near you. You can search for a particular campus, you can search by zip code or city, and it will pull up the campuses near you. It’ll tell you whether that campus has been prayer walked yet or not,” Jon Hietbrink says, InterVarsity’s Vice President of Campus Ministry in the Central United States.

“If it hasn’t yet been prayer walked there’ll be a green button where you can click ‘start here,’ and enter either your phone number or your email address and we’ll send you a customized prayer guide that you can use to shape your prayer walk on that campus. And then at the end of that prayer walking guide is a button for you to be able to say that you completed the prayer walk and that will update our count down.”

Results of Prayer Walks

Hietbrink has participated in prayer walks which have taken only 10 minutes. Other times, the Holy Spirit has prompted him to pray longer. Regardless of how long a prayer walk lasts, InterVarsity believes it is a powerful experience, setting foot on a college campus and joining God in that space.

(Photo courtesy of EveryCampus via Facebook)

“Our hope with that is that people really start to experience what we in campus ministries see every day, is that Jesus is alive and well on every single campus in the country already. We don’t bring God to those campuses. God is already at work in those places, we’re just joining Him,” Hietbrink says.

Stories have reached Hietbrink’s desk from people with whom InterVarsity did not have previous contact. They are stories of people who felt moved to prayer walk a campus where they knew no one, yet God led them to a student or faculty member who wanted to start something new on that campus. To prayer walk a campus before 2020 comes, click here.

Looking Ahead to 2020

In 2020, InterVarsity plans to mobilize the Church further to reach college campuses across the United States. This will look like continued prayer and even efforts to start new Gospel communities on college campuses.

“Our desire would be that there wouldn’t be a single campus left in the country that didn’t have a local community of Jesus followers meeting on that campus to seek and bear witness to His presence and His lordship on that campus,” Hietbrink says.

USA (MNN) -- EveryCampus releasing college outreach resources

USA (MNN) — We’ve talked before about EveryCampus and their goal for all college campuses in America to be covered with a prayer walk. Volunteers sign up with EveryCampus to walk a campus near them and pray for spiritual revival among the students there. But once you’ve prayer walked a campus, then what?

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is one of 150 ministries in the EveryCampus movement. As a next step, they’re encouraging churches to build relationships with college students and empower young Christians to reach their peers with the Gospel.

InterVarsity evangelist York Moore says later this year on EveryCampus’s website, “We’re going to be releasing a series of free premium content — resources that are going to empower everyday people to do what InterVarsity and Cru and Chi Alpha and all of the rest of the collegiate ministry organizations have been doing for decades.

“We’re giving away the best of what we have so that we can empower the Church to reach more students for Christ.”

(Photo courtesy of Element5 Digital via Unsplash)

These free resources will include a downloadable guide on how to identify a person of peace, build a relational network map, and grow an outreach team.

There will also be coaching centers opening soon so collegiate ministries can support churches in outreach with college students.

“I think in the past, the idea of partnership with these parachurch organizations in the Church has been, ‘You give us money so that we can go do what we’re the experts in doing.’ That is not the philosophy of InterVarsity or the EveryCampus movement,” Moore says.

“Partnership has to increasingly look like, how do we celebrate and empower and champion the best of who you are and the best of what you have to get the job done? Not just give us the check so we can go away and do it for you. But how can the Church now begin to do what InterVarsity and Cru and the other organizations have been doing for a long time?”

If we’re going to stir spiritual revival among young people today, it needs to reach beyond the church building. And young Christian college students need the support of the entire Body as they represent Jesus to their peers.

“A church can actually have a campus ministry in the walls of their church. But our hope and dream really would be, wouldn’t it be awesome to see a Gospel movement on those campuses so students can reach students for Christ in the dorms, in the cafeterias.”

Stay tuned for college outreach resources on EveryCampus’s website.

More than 2,000 colleges still need someone to do a prayer walk on their campus. Could that person be you?

Find a college campus near you to prayer walk here!

Meanwhile, on-campus or off-campus, please keep praying for college students. Pray for young believers to be connected to the local Church and grow in their faith. Ask the Lord to give them courage and wisdom as they represent Him.

USA (MNN) -- InterVarsity's York Moore delves into the impact of campus ministry.

USA (MNN) – What is the target of a campus ministry? Students? Professors? Staff? No; it’s the campus itself.

What is Campus Ministry

“People conceptualize campus ministry as doing evangelism, discipleship, Bible study

missions, to a campus population, as if students were targets. And that is not at all how we conceptualize campus ministry, we care about the institution itself,” says York Moore of campus-focused ministry InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.

The university is more than buildings and students; it’s a culture-changing force for future generations. Future leaders, doctors, and judges are beginning their journeys now. Learn more about InterVarsity’s mission to reach campuses here.

The Influence of the University

“The university is.. a source of power in our culture. It creates culture, and it creates leaders for the next generation. And so if we’re going to be serious about, say, reaching the world or seeing culture change in America, we better make sure that the university is high on the list,” Moore says.

As he sees it, Jesus cares about it all, from research and scientific studies to football games and campus events.

(Photo courtesy of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship–Greek InterVarsity)

“It’s part of the kingdom of this world that will one day become the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Moore says, “…Christ died to save sinners from their sins, but Christ rose so that he can reign in victory over all of the systems and structures of this world.”

Understanding this call and influence drives InterVarsity’s passion for college campuses and Moore’s enthusiasm for campus ministry. The atmosphere of transformation and discovery has consistently struck him.

“You have people not only wrestling with their own lives, but they’re wrestling with the big ideas that shape culture and policy and all kinds of things. And we get to be right there in the midst of that moment for the students in that nexus that red hot nexus, where they’re trying to figure it out.”

Praying for the Next Generation

Students on campus today will all play a part in the direction of the future. Pray for wisdom and that they will be equipped with the educational and spiritual tools they need to tackle the challenges coming their way.

Chances are you know a college student or two. Pray for them and their educational and faith journey.

InterVarsity encourages covering campuses in prayer. Consider adopting one to pray for each day or go beyond and start your own group. See InterVarsity tools here. If you’re a student, find out if your campus is one of the 650 with an InterVarsity presence.

USA (MNN) -- Reaching Gen Z one campus at a time

USA (MNN) – Among younger generations, the irreligious population is growing. Among Generation Z college students this presents challenges and opportunities for ministry.

Millennials show a decreasing belief in God and views on the importance of religion according to the Pew Research Center. Now, further research is showing the generation behind them, Gen Z, is continuing this slump with only 39 percent ranking spirituality as important. Read more here.

Reaching Generation Z

Born after 1997, Generation Z is beginning to enter college. On-campus ministries are beginning to encounter a generation that is largely un-reached, sometimes hostile, and often curious.

“We’re dealing with a population that aren’t even Christmas-Easter Christians…They’ve never held a Bible in their hand. They’d never had somebody offer to pray for them,” says York Moore, National Evangelist for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and the Executive Director of Catalytic Partnerships.

Moore is finding students are curious about religious practices and religious communities. He believes Scripture can answer the great questions of this generation and address justice and suffering.

The Challenges

Ideas of conversion or evangelism are negatively received among a section of generation Z. Particularly those concerned with ideology and worldview.

“The idea of seeking to convert somebody to convince them of a different ideology is seen as more than a microaggression. It’s actually seen as an injustice,” Moore says. “…they’re seeing the Judeo Christian narrative as not just a dominant worldview, but a dangerous and unjust worldview.”

With this generation, he believes the community and vulnerable body of Christ is the path to reaching them. Though he recognizes how issues of gender and sexual orientation can create a line in the sand.

The Positives

Among the lower number of Christian students, Moore sees a more authentic group of young people. The social benefit of Christianity has disappeared with the increasing negativity towards religion in secular environments.

“We’re finding is that the kinds of students that are willing to call themselves Christians are qualitatively different than they were 10-15 years ago because there’s really no benefit to following Christ unless

(Photo courtesy of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship via Becket Law Media Kit)

you’re really following Christ,” Moore says.

Christian students face persecution and suspicion on the administrative level, he says. But this has yet to bleed into the student population. Regardless, university chapter planting is quickly expanding around the country through organizations like InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. One Hundred and Fifty organizations have joined forces via Every Campus and they’ve never seen so many students come to faith.

The Future of the Young Church

“Students, particularly undergraduate students, are uniquely open to the gospel. Yes, there are these challenges. Yes, there are these concerns. But the reality is, there’s a window of opportunity right in front of us right here right now that we need to step into while that window is open,” Moore says.

Despite the growth, it’s largely at 800 campuses with a historical presence. Of 4,948 campuses in the US that’s not even half.

Moore describes a deteriorating situation that revival not strategy is not going to solve.

“I believe things are going to get progressively worse. Simultaneously, God is going to actually send a new wave of power of revival,” he says.

Join the Wave of Revival

Commit to covering the 4,948 American campuses in prayer. Physically walk and pray on the campuses near you. Find a campus here and further resources here. Encourage your church to adopt a campus. Host a Bible study, provide snacks. Most of all, pray for revival among the church.

USA (MNN) -- Encourage this generation in faithfulness

USA (MNN) — God is on a mission to redeem relationships through Christ Jesus. In 2 Peter 3:9, the writer explains how God’s will is for none to perish, but for all to repent. Ruth Hubbard, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s Vice President for Urbana, says:

“His intent is that each community and every generation would be fully submitted, that they would live as faithful witnesses submitted to the authority of Jesus Christ.”

Seeking God’s Will

However, Hubbard sees a faithfulness in the generation currently transitioning into adulthood.

Part of the call on the Christian life is to make disciples and to bring others into a place of knowing and loving God. Culturally, this generation was raised to value all people, even those who are different. Hubbard believes there’s a place within God’s Kingdom work for this mindset.

“But it’s also a culture that wants everyone to have the freedom to do whatever they want to do because they’ve chosen to do it because you should just be able to be you. The complexity of the Gospel is that while God’s love and care for each of us is completely inclusive, He calls us to holiness as well,” Hubbard explains.

Submitting to Jesus

The call to holiness requires submitting not to ourselves, but to the authority of Jesus. In turning from ourselves and toward God, Hubbard says we become our true self, the person we were designed to be by God. However, becoming this person is a lifelong journey.

“He extends grace to us over our whole lifetime of moving toward that. One of my encouragements to people…is God will set a standard of this beautiful holiness, this purity, and yet, He doesn’t reject us in our journey,” Hubbard says.

“We can stand pretty close to Jesus, but have our eyes turned away from Him…What do we do to keep our eyes on Jesus, and to keep moving toward him?”

Answering her own question, Hubbard suggests Christians pursue spiritual disciplines and live life in communities who point them to Jesus.

Join in Prayer

Pray for this generation. Ask Jesus to bring redemption and hope on college campuses. Pray for students on campuses to have boldness in declaring Christ’s love and the Gospel.

United States (MNN) -- Unite as the Church to pray for campus revival

United States (MNN) — February 28 is the Collegiate Day of Prayer. It is a day for the body of Christ to stand united across generations and pray for spiritual revival and God’s work on college campuses.

Collegiate Day of Prayer

“Collegiate Day of Prayer actually traces back all the way to 1823. It’s something that college students and campuses have been doing for many years now. Just setting aside a day to pray, especially for spiritual awakening on colleges and universities across the country. It is something that in 2019 we’re continuing,” InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s President Tom Lin explains.

“So…February 28, Thursday, we’re setting aside that day to pray for college campuses around the country and to encourage churches, individuals, campus ministries, many of our friends and ministry partners to pray on that day.”

(Photo courtesy of InterVarsity Christian Facebook)

Lin says any time there has been a spiritual awakening and revival, it has always been proceeded by a prayer movement. InterVarsity prays daily for campus ministry and revival on campus. But on Thursday, they would love for you to join them in praying alongside with other ministries and prayer movements for students as a united community.

“This is sort of a special invitation that you know, we want everyone to be praying for the college campus, not just the students who are literally there every day. So, I do hope and I do want to encourage many who are hearing this to participate on this February 28th,” Lin says.

However, do not stop praying for college campus once February 28 passes. Instead, join the Every Campus movement for continued prayers to see every corner of every campus in the United States reached with the Gospel.

There are nearly 5,000 college campuses in the United States. About a fifth of these campuses still need people committed to praying for them. Let’s use the Collegiate Day of Prayer as an opportunity to springboard into a lifestyle of prayer through the Every Campus movement, for college campuses.

“If you go to everycampus.com, you can locate the nearest campus to you. We have a prayer walking guide that guides you through how to walk on that campus, and then you can log in on that website. [Share] what you heard on that prayer, what you prayed for, maybe who you met on campus when you [were] walking. So, it’s designed as a great follow-up tool as well to this day of prayer,” Lin says.

Join the movement here!
