Mock says the villages he went to were covered in craters from rocket and drone fire, and roughly half the homes were destroyed.

Nowhere to Go

“I encountered…an entire facility that was built underground with the capacity to teach over 500 children in an elementary school. The city administration headquarters, everything was underground, under reinforced concrete – in other words, like a bunker. This was their life,” Mock says.

“You may ask, ‘Why would anyone live there?’ Well, simply, the people that are there have nowhere to go. A majority are either elderly or single moms with children, and they literally have nowhere to go.”

Mock describes visiting one church building that expected maybe 30 people to show up. The room was instead filled with 70 Ukrainian grandmothers, all hoping to get some food and basic medications.

He says the elderly women “came up to me just flooded with tears, saying, ‘Please, thank the people. We are so hungry and in so much pain.’ They didn’t have simple medicines like Advil or Tylenol,…or simple foods to make it through the day. They were desperate.

“They wanted to know why. Why would someone help people that seem to feel there was no help? I said, ‘It’s because of God’s grace upon us. Nothing we have was not meant to be shared. But ultimately, it’s about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.'”

Monster Trucks and the Heart of a Child

When Mock left for Ukraine, he wasn’t just bringing supplies from SGA. His young grandson, Asher, also sent his favorite toy monster truck to be gifted to a child in Ukraine. Then, while Mock was distributing aid, he met a toddler named Danil.

“He’s standing there dirty, and you could hear the explosions in the background, and you see the difficulty of his living. I knelt down and handed him this monster truck. He looked at me for a second in pure shock. But…in the midst of everything, he literally dropped down in the dirt, making engine sounds, and started playing with his truck in the dirt.”

Mock says, “He didn’t care about all the circumstances. He didn’t know what would come tomorrow. He just knew in that moment that he had been given a gift, and he wanted to have all of the gift and experience it. May we, too, be the same way with our Heavenly Father when He gives us these good gifts.”

Ask God to uplift Ukrainians’ hearts like young Danil.

“Do not lose sight of the needs that are there,” Mock urges. “The need is overwhelming in Ukraine…. The lives they live over there are stunningly difficult.”

He asks, “Pray that they would be faithful in the middle of these difficult times, and their witness would lead us in whatever we face to be faithful.”

Last year was the first year that Mission Cry began shipping to Cape Town, and the organization was able to send four full shipping containers.

This had been a leap of faith for both the suppliers and recipients last year, as they sought to trust God with what they could handle.

Beginning in February, the 2026 shipments will leave every two months to continue in the work that the Word of God is already doing in South Africa.

Jason Woolford with Mission Cry says that the organization received amazing testimonies of the work happening in this area amidst gang issues and crime rises.

“Prisoners giving their lives to the Lord, people who get out of prison getting saved, people coming from the surrounding countries, that’s right, coming from the surrounding countries to come and get free Bibles and Christian books from this hub,” Woolford says.

Woolford says that when he sees the devil working overtime, he knows the devil is trying to stop something great. God willing, this distribution point will continue to be a place that fights against the evil working in the world.

“The only thing that does not return void is the Word of God,” Woolford says. “While clothes, water, food, all of those things are important (especially as Americans know), those things return void, but the Word of God doesn’t. It forever changes someone’s life.”

Please pray that the containers sent to Cape Town, South Africa, this year will touch the hearts of individuals who do not know the Lord. Pray that people will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and that their lives will be transformed. Pray that Christians will be discipled and that they will draw near to God.

Wolof is the national language of Senegal and is spoken by 12.4 million people, including 4.6 million people as a first language. The language also has a variant that is spoken by more than 160,000 people in The Gambia.

“We’ve got distributors that have been waiting and praying for this for years,” says Helen Williams with WMP.

“God is at work even when we don’t see it. If we just wait for Him, He has a plan. He’s got people out there willing to join us and use material. We just need to wait on Him.” 

Exciting new developments like printing in more languages and supplying more partners can be tricky while keeping older contacts well stocked.  

“It’s going to require that we keep producing at a steady rate,” says Williams. “We still produce these booklets for just four cents each.”

Please pray that these booklets will disciple and touch the lives of the believers who receive them. Pray that as demand rises WMP will have both the funding and production capacity to faithfully serve existing and new partners.

Ministry partners in Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea, and Pakistan will soon receive their container shipments, where ministries already have people ready to share the Good News.

World Missionary Press also funds printing in Indonesia and Myanmar, where importing resources is difficult.

The organization is careful with shipments to Pakistan, as it would be easy to bring those on the ground into harm’s way. The coordinator in Pakistan, however, has a good church and ministry there.

Helen Williams with WMP says,

“He’s careful. We are careful with him as well. But the requests keep coming. ‘How soon can I get this? We need the Bible studies as well.’”

“Sometimes (it’s) overwhelming, but it is so exciting to get these reports that say, ‘We have to have more, and when can you get it here?’ The pastors are just asking. They’re standing around waiting for the literature that (they) can use to reach because they see it works. They see what the Spirit does with the Word, and that excites them.”

Chiang Mai, Thailand, is also a major hub for the organization, with a printing house and distribution center serving several other countries and people groups in the region.

They provide material in about six or seven languages for the region, and provide resources to ministries in different countries such as Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, and China.

With persecuted people groups moving to Southern Thailand, having this material readily available in multiple languages brings hope and creates new opportunities.

This site recently sent a request for 20,000 booklets of “Help From Above” and “Way to Our God” to reach the Karen people groups in Myanmar.

“The response (from partners) is always that we need more,” says Williams. “And they’ll give stories or generalities from the pastors and those that come and get the booklets and are continuing to use them. (The pastors are) not just getting something and then never coming back. They keep coming back. It’s a source for the pastors and the evangelists in these areas,” says Williams.

Unlike other areas of the world, when requests are received from this region, organizations need to move fast because the doors are not always going to remain open.

Please pray for church leaders across Asia to access and distribute materials wisely. Pray that WMP will communicate clearly with partners and will have the resources to continue to answer the calls around the world.

Helen Williams with World Missionary Press says, in the last few months, “We’ve sent over 2.7 million booklets into Colombia through two or three different major distributors.”

A group of 300 pastors in Colombia receive and distribute these Scripture booklets in their communities.

“They’ll have parades, they’ll have outings, they’ll have food distributions, or they’ll have something like that and the booklets will go along,” says Williams.

The Colombian pastors even take these Scripture booklets across the borders into Venezuela and Brazil. “They had one pastor who’s from a small ethnic tribe, the population was somewhere [around] 25,000.

“This pastor sent a message. He’s holding the booklets in his hand and he’s thanking us for them. He speaks Spanish, of course, but he also speaks the language of his people, and so he can take the message to them through these booklets and preach to them.”

Also, Williams says, “I would ask people that they would pray for each of those booklets, that it would go to someone with a heart prepared to receive it.”

World Missionary Press recently delivered 2 million gospel-centered booklets to a pastor in Peru. But Helen Williams with WMP says that was possible only because a Peruvian woman in another country had connected them.

”She sent us a list of 10 pastors in Peru that needed literature, and she was willing to work to get the container in,” Williams explains.

One of the church leaders was Pastor Lopez, who lives in the south of Peru. 

“He was telling us about all of these unreached, small villages and small towns that were kind of out-of-the-way. We [recently] sent him a container. He got a 40-foot container, which is 2 million booklets. [The woman who first connected us] helped him get it in, import it,” Williams says. 

Every World Missionary Press shipment is a team effort, from the national partners to the printing, packaging, loading, driving and shipping of the materials. WMP currently produces 11 million booklets per month, sending them to places like Chad, Honduras, Botswana, and many more.

Pastor Lopez has sent back a report of how many boxes went to which cities and which pastors in Peru.

“One of the videos they sent had a picture of children with our booklet, ‘The Way to God,’ which was written for children in Spanish. The caption is, ‘Nothing like this had ever entered their village,’” Williams says.

“They had never seen anything like this or heard this message. It’s exciting when we hear those reports.”

Williams says it’s likely they will send Pastor Lopez another batch of Scripture booklets and Bible studies to distribute.

Praise God for a successful delivery of this shipment, and pray for the booklets to reach people whose hearts are ready to receive Christ. 

“God is really moving in the world. We see it in so many countries, in so many areas, even in Europe,” Williams says. 

“Just keep praying and trust in the Lord that He’s going to honor His Word as it’s shared. Be encouraged! God is at work.”

“You hear good news, and you hear bad news. Some people say, ‘Well, you can get the Bible about anytime you want. Then others will say, ‘We’ve struggled to be able to find the Bible online,’” says Kurt Rovenstine with Bibles for China.

But a recent gathering with Chinese pastors left him with this word: “Their take is that it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to be able to access Scriptures online.” 

Print or digital copies that can be secured and accessed offline are becoming more and more necessary. 

“Restrictions of websites, the permissions that are sometimes difficult to get, and all of the things that are happening in China make it so much more important to have that Bible that you can tuck under your pillow,” Rovenstine says. 

The work that Bibles for China does is entirely legal within the nation. They have ongoing distribution plans for 2024 and avenues to carry them out. 

“We want to pursue that as aggressively as we can, because we don’t know how long this door is going to stay open,” Rovenstine says.

But the work is hard. They need the prayer support of the Church as their network of partners engages in critical Kingdom work. 

“Whether you live in the West or in Europe, or in the Far East or the Middle East, the enemy is at work against the truth of Scripture and the truth of the one true God,” Rovenstine says. 

“We need to pray for those who are on the frontlines. We need to pray for those who are supporting the work that we do and other missionary organizations do — for those who are seeking and who are lost and who are hurting.”

In 2022 the team was ready with a partner organization to distribute the Bibles to Chinese people living in Russia. But then the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out and plans had to change. 

Rather than keep the Bibles in a warehouse indefinitely, they released them to Chinese churches in the Moscow area for use in training and evangelism. Then they waited. 

More than a year later, they have received word that all 50,000 Bibles were distributed.

“Just in the last few months, the last of those (50,000) were all distributed. That was very, very much an encouragement to the work that we do, and a reminder that, that God is good, you know, when we step out on faith.” Rovenstine says.

“Those Bibles are in the hands of people who at least have the opportunity to read them and to discover the truth that they contain. That was very much an encouragement to the work that we do, and a reminder that God is good. When we step out on faith, and even when it seems as if there are roadblocks before us, God opens doors and gets the truth out to those who want to read it,” Rovenstine says.

Praise God for His living Word, and pray for more open doors for Bibles for China to reach Mandarin-speaking families.

“The power of the Word of God is amazing. God is not going to let that truth go away simply because the world is opposed to it. When God’s people walk in obedience, He opens doors for us to do the work that we do,” Rovenstine says.

“The way that animation is taking shape today, it becomes a new opportunity to bring a new generation and new families around the world into the story of Jesus, into his life and testimony through the animation, art medium,” says Geoff Peters with Jesus Film Project. 

The team’s industry-leading animators are working with biblical theologians and archaeologists to create a historically rich and immersive work of art. They’re using an animation and game-making program called Unreal Engine to allow people to put on virtual reality goggles and step into every scene.

“We’re talking about the next jump of technology that allows people to experience the gospel in a way never before possible,” Peters says. 

This reimagining of the original 1979 film will largely use the same voiceovers and script with slight tweaking. This will allow translators to rapididly work the project into the more than 2,000 languages that JESUS (1979) has already been dubbed into. 

Another critical part of JESUS (2025) is distribution. Peters says on-the-ground teams around the world are already brainstorming distribution and practical ministry plans ahead of the projected December 2025 release. 

“Because it’s not just about a film. This is a ministry tool that happens to be a film. And so being able to make those connections to, once someone sees the film, what’s the follow-up? What’s the next step? A lot of those logistics need to come together beautifully,” Peters says.

This is where you come in. Between now and December 2025, Jesus Film Project wants to hear from ministry leaders, church leaders, or anyone who is working with the Body of Christ in any part of the world. 

They are specifically looking for insights on how the film can be crafted in the right way or ultimately distributed in the right way to reach as many people as possible.

“Our biggest goal in this film process, we want to mobilize millions who can reach billions. We want this to be a ministry tool that the body of Christ can take, use, and get behind,” Peters says.

Kurt Rovenstine with Bibles for China says they are funding and distributing a special resource for kids, printed by a ministry partner. It’s the Egermeier Children’s Bible in Mandarin.

“We’re excited about that aspect of the diaspora ministry and praying hard that God used it to reach some children that know nothing of the gospel, know nothing of the work of Christ and what He’s done to bring them into relationship with Him,” Rovenstine says.

These Bibles are meant to reach the whole family. BFC hopes to have them printed and ready to distribute by mid-summer through their existing network of partners in Canada and the U. S.

“Ironically, (this network is) some of the house church pastors that have left China who are now just jumping right back into it,” Rovenstine says. 

For now, North America will be the primary focus of this outreach. Rovenstine says they want the books to be given with care as intentional evangelistic tools. 

“We want it to be, ‘Here’s a piece of literature that will help transform your life.’ We’re working on those connections and looking for those connections,” he says.
