Australia (MNN) -- Outreach to at-risk women in Australia faces severe cutbacks

Australia (MNN) — LifeHouse, a safe house for women at
risk in Adelaide, Australia, is fighting to stay alive.

The project is a ministry of Edwardstown Baptist
Church where Marti Williams, a partner with The Evangelical Alliance Mission
(TEAM) is on staff.

In their most-recent prayer requests, Williams communicates some
of the critical needs. Broken down, a $25
gift covers utilities for one woman for one month. Food for one woman for a month runs about
$80. $130 covers professional support
for one woman for one day. Because the LifeHouse
staff is committed to helping these young women, they've been working as
volunteers since last December because there is no funding to pay their
salaries.

Life House Australia offers a 6-month live-in biblically-based
residential program for young women who are suffering from life-controlling
issues such as eating disorders, abuse, depression, unplanned pregnancy and
self-harm. Most of the participants
are women in their mid to late teens or twenties.

The staff offers these women the opportunity to journey
toward healing with the help of classes and activities tailored to the individuals
needs. They offer counseling, group
learning, mentoring, journaling, recreational activities, health and fitness
classes, social development learning, budgeting and finance, and career
guidance.

All of these tools are aimed at equipping troubled women
find hope once more, which helps them move forward to health and wholeness. Life skills they learn help them set the
pace for a better future once they leave the program.

Please pray that God would raise up the funding for this
crucial ministry which is literally saving women both physically and spiritually.
