Indonesia (MNN) — Wait! What? When the Word of God is so powerful it stops people in their tracks.

Indonesia (MNN) — All eyes in Southeast Asia and beyond are on Indonesia as a new wave of protests sweeps the country.

Indonesia is a vast nation of striking contrasts. Some regions face significant persecution of believers, and reports have emerged of extremists — like ISIS — setting up camps and training there. Yet ministries based in the country continue to see openness and success in sharing the Gospel, even amid the protests.

John Pudaite from Bibles For The World says, “These protests are being led by students primarily across the country, who feel that this current government is becoming rather repressive and also quite corrupt, and is passing laws and bills that are benefiting them.”

The main demands include economic reforms to help the middle class have financial stability, more job opportunities with fair salaries for young professionals and graduates, and freedom for opposition voices.

The protests also reveal the nation’s deeper need for hope.

“You could just feel such a poverty for Scripture there in that country, that they haven’t had access to it, and they really want to know what’s written in God’s Word,” explains Pudaite.

Christians responded to this need by going out to share the Good News with protestors.

“The most recent wave of protests and violence we had a wonderful window to provide 80,000 Gospels of John and 15,000 New Testaments for the new believers,” he says.

The Gospel is so refreshing that people often stop in their tracks!

“So often we saw them just kind of step off to the side and start reading God’s word immediately,” he shares.

Pray for lasting peace and economic breakthrough across the country. Pray also for the Gospel to fill the deep void of hope.

“We continue to pray into this situation, that the Prince of Peace may prevail, that these — especially the violent protests — may subside, and that the people will, in the process, come to know that Jesus Christ is truly the only way to everlasting peace and hope,” says Pudaite.

(MNN) Asia — In addition to recent shipments delivered to the Philippines, Thailand, Fiji, and India, World Missionary Press (WMP) is preparing to send more biblical resources to other areas of Asia.

(MNN) Asia — In addition to recent shipments delivered to the Philippines, Thailand, Fiji, and India, World Missionary Press (WMP) is preparing to send more biblical resources to other areas of Asia.

Ministry partners in Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea, and Pakistan will soon receive their container shipments, where ministries already have people ready to share the Good News.

World Missionary Press also funds printing in Indonesia and Myanmar, where importing resources is difficult.

The organization is careful with shipments to Pakistan, as it would be easy to bring those on the ground into harm’s way. The coordinator in Pakistan, however, has a good church and ministry there.

Helen Williams with WMP says,

“He’s careful. We are careful with him as well. But the requests keep coming. ‘How soon can I get this? We need the Bible studies as well.’”

“Sometimes (it’s) overwhelming, but it is so exciting to get these reports that say, ‘We have to have more, and when can you get it here?’ The pastors are just asking. They’re standing around waiting for the literature that (they) can use to reach because they see it works. They see what the Spirit does with the Word, and that excites them.”

Chiang Mai, Thailand, is also a major hub for the organization, with a printing house and distribution center serving several other countries and people groups in the region.

They provide material in about six or seven languages for the region, and provide resources to ministries in different countries such as Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, and China.

With persecuted people groups moving to Southern Thailand, having this material readily available in multiple languages brings hope and creates new opportunities.

This site recently sent a request for 20,000 booklets of “Help From Above” and “Way to Our God” to reach the Karen people groups in Myanmar.

“The response (from partners) is always that we need more,” says Williams. “And they’ll give stories or generalities from the pastors and those that come and get the booklets and are continuing to use them. (The pastors are) not just getting something and then never coming back. They keep coming back. It’s a source for the pastors and the evangelists in these areas,” says Williams.

Unlike other areas of the world, when requests are received from this region, organizations need to move fast because the doors are not always going to remain open.

Please pray for church leaders across Asia to access and distribute materials wisely. Pray that WMP will communicate clearly with partners and will have the resources to continue to answer the calls around the world.

China (MNN) — Even in the toughest challenges, God equips those He calls.

China (MNN) — Even in the toughest challenges, God equips those He calls.

Despite ongoing government efforts to “Sinicize” Christianity, the Chinese Church continues to hold fast to its identity. However, this resilience requires intentional effort. One crucial way to sustain and strengthen the Church is by equipping local leaders through training centers. These centers serve as hubs where ministers can teach, preach, and disciple — ensuring that sound Biblical teaching continues to spread. One such center is currently being built in the northern hills of China.

However, establishing a Christian training center in this region is no small task. Local believers must navigate three major challenges. Kurt Rovenstine from Bibles for China explains: “They do face a lot of obstacles in trying to share the Gospel in a place that, number one, is communist, number two, is very Muslim and very traditional, and number three is resource challenged.”

These three challenges — communism, Islam, and poverty — create a difficult environment for ministry. Each presents unique obstacles and misunderstandings about God, making the need for solid Biblical training all the more urgent.

Woman sitting behind the desk (Photo courtesy of Unsplash)

Despite these difficulties, local workers are pressing forward. They are constructing the center as part of a registered church in northern China, with a clear mission: to equip and empower local leaders for effective ministry. This is where Bibles for China plays a crucial role, supplying much-needed materials to support their training. So far, the ministry has helped fund the education of lay ministers who will return to rural areas to guide believers in their home churches.

“We really love the opportunity that the Lord has opened to us to support them in providing some study Bibles and things like that, to the students that come to this Training Center,” says Kurt.

However, the challenges extend beyond equipping adults. A key struggle for trained believers is raising their children with Biblical knowledge. State restrictions prohibit bringing children to church, holding Sunday school, or organizing structured faith programs.

“You can’t bring them in,” Kurt explains. “You can’t have Sunday school, you can’t have intentional programs. So it has to be informal and just part of relationships.” That’s why Christians are encouraged to nurture their faith within their families, passing down Biblical stories through parents, grandparents, and uncles. This way, children grow up grounded in the Word and ready to join the Church with spiritual maturity.

Pray for the smooth construction of the training center and for wisdom in preparing the training programs. Visit Bibles for China’s website to learn more about the training centers and how you can support their mission!

Romania (MNN) – A partnership between World Missionary Press and a Romanian mission is helping to reach Southeastern Europe with the Gospel.

Romania (MNN) – In post-Communist European countries, there is still great need for the Gospel. World Missionary Press has partnered with a Romanian mission to distribute booklets of Scripture. Helen Williams says the mission supports Gospel workers in Romania as well as across the Ukrainian border.

“They’re getting booklets into Ukraine, which we can’t do any other way,” says Williams.

The Romanian mission has also offered help delivering Scripture booklets to a Bulgarian ministry. WMP has the materials but shipping to Bulgaria is expensive.

Williams says, “When we were in Romania, they said, ‘Well, we’ve got people that go into Bulgaria, drive trucks back and forth. We can deliver it free of charge.’”

WMP has agreed to send them a shipping container full of Gospel literature. The Romanian mission will then distribute the literature across Southeastern Europe.

“We also made plans to translate several of our Bible studies and a couple more of our newer pieces in Romanian” says Williams.

The new materials will be especially helpful to reach more children and youth with the Gospel. In the meantime, Williams asks for prayers. She says,

“We need to pray for the missionaries and for the believers there to be encouraged.”

Learn more about the work of WMP on their website www.wmpress.org. You can give to support Gospel outreach in Romania and its neighbors by making a donation here.

Sri Lanka (MNN) – New ministry outreaches share God’s Word with Sri Lanka’s unreached rural villages.

Sri Lanka (MNN) – As India grows more intolerant towards Christians, doors are opening in a neighboring country. Helen Williams of World Missionary Press says two of their ministry partners in India plan to begin outreach to Sri Lanka.

“They’ve decided to reach out down there. Some of that is because of some of the persecution and the difficulties in India. And they’re still trying to reach the Tamil speaking people, wherever they are,” says Williams.

WMP produces Scripture booklets that are distributed freely to make disciples around the world.

Williams says, “The book was so effective in India and in other places where they’re working, so they came to us and said, ‘Okay, we want to go to Sri Lanka, what can you do for us?’”

Scripture booklets from WMP have already helped another ministry in Sri Lanka for 25 years. The new ministries will support local pastors, train leaders, and send evangelists.

“Workers are going into the rural areas, and there is open response,” says Williams.

“So this is an opportunity that the Lord presented, and we’re just grateful that we can be part of it.”

While persecution still affects Sri Lankan Christians, lives are being changed by God’s Word. One man learned about the love of Christ when a pastor shared with him a Scripture booklet from WMP. He joyfully put his faith in Christ and shared the news with his sisters, who also wanted to learn more. Now he attends church with his sisters and parents.

A woman who received a Scripture booklet early last year shared it with her husband, and they have since began following Jesus together. She says:

“Through the Holy Bible I have found solace and answers. I firmly believe that the Word of God is the wellspring of life. His presence blesses us and I aspire to deepen my faith and understanding of His teachings. I am grateful that my husband and I embraced Jesus together, uniting us in worship as a family. My heart overflows with joy as I follow the living God.”

WMP is preparing to send a shipping container of resources to support the work. The resources will be distributed through the three ministries in Sri Lanka to share the Gospel with thousands of more people. You can give to the project here. For every dollar donated, WMP can print 21 Scripture booklets.

Pray for the Scripture booklets to soon reach the pastors and evangelists in Sri Lanka. The new Sri Lankan ministries have also asked for prayer over their leaders.

“Two of these [ministries] are establishing new works, and that needs godly leadership on the ground. That’s always a challenge in some of these places,” says Williams. “We’re glad to provide the material, but there has to be a structured, Spirit-controlled, Spirit-directed plan, and an oversight, and accountability when any of these ministries start in a new field.”

Pray for God to protect and direct the faithful leaders sharing the Gospel with the unreached peoples of Sri Lanka.

Africa (MNN) – The Gospel is going out across Africa with the help of local partners of World Missionary Press.

Africa (MNN) – The Gospel is going out across Africa with the help of local partners of World Missionary Press (WMP). Helen Williams met many of these ministry leaders at a recent gathering in Ethiopia with Every Home For Christ. For some, it was the first time she had met them in person after

At 10 pounds per box this person is carrying 70 pounds on their head. It’s also 3,500 Scripture booklets that will be shared in villages in Burundi.

partnering with them long-distance.

This year the gathering invited wives of leaders and national directors to attend and be encouraged. The wives often are crucial to the work and already involved with planning, scheduling, managing paperwork, and discipleship. Many also care for the family at home while their husbands travel to places that have not yet heard the Gospel. In the past few years, Every Home For Christ has been including wives of leaders in more ways, such as praying together.

Williams says, “It was exciting, invigorating. These people are just committed. And these are the people that World Missionary Press serves. We print these booklets not to sit on our shelves and not just to dump somewhere. But because there are those waiting with plans, and energy and teams to use the literature.”

Much of the Gospel outreach focuses on children and youth because Africa has the youngest population than any other continent. In South Africa, for example, children receive a coloring book by WMP that introduces them to the Gospel. In Uganda, where 45 percent of the population is younger than 15 years old, Gospel workers are currently distributing throughout the country a shipment of Scripture booklets received earlier this year. Williams says,

“There are young people in these countries that are going to come up and be in leadership in these countries. And they need to be reached. Now.”

Brother Gerome K., a 19-year-old Muslim, testified that he received salvation through reading a Scripture portion saying that “Christ is God.”. He joined a local church after receiving Jesus’ Love.

WMP is currently preparing to send shipments of over 40 million Scripture booklets for African countries. The ministry recently completed a campaign called the Founder’s Challenge, raising over $300,000 to send Gospel literature to Africa. So far, the funds have provided for shipments to Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, and Ethiopia. Each 40-foot shipping container can hold approximately two million pieces of literature.

“We have a shipment going to Nigeria, and I was told by our coordinator, as soon as he gets it, he’s got people waiting for it,” says Williams.

She asks believers to pray for the Nigerian Christians sharing the Gospel in areas at high risk of terrorism. Pray also for the ministry to have the staff and resources needed to continue supporting Gospel workers worldwide. Williams says,

“We are so grateful for all of those who pray and all of those who give so that we can provide for those who are willing to go.”

India (MNN) — Mission Cry isn't deterred from sending God's Word.

India (MNN) — Bibles and Christian books headed into India from Mission Cry are hitting major roadblocks. Mission Cry ships good-quality used Bibles and Christian books to dozens of countries around the world. However, Mission Cry’s President Rev. Jason Woolford says Gospel ministry is getting more difficult in the South Asian nation.

“We’ve been sending [Bibles and Christian books] to India now for over 65 years,” says Woolford. “But we’re seeing things intensify like we’ve never seen before, even in the last four months, to where the government was starting to put pressure on containers that we sent there.”

In particular, anti-conversion laws in 11 Indian states are making it harder to ship and distribute God’s Word.

Mission Cry’s recently attempted to send a shipment of Christian literature to India. One of their local contacts received a threatening message, along with others in the shipping industry.

“We just heard yesterday that he was warned…that if any [shipping containers] are opened and found with the Word of God, they will immediately go to prison.”

However, Indian believers are firm in their commitment to share the Gospel, and Mission Cry is committed to equipping these believers for outreach wherever they are.

“In the midst of all that, these people, our brothers and sisters, are still asking for the Word of God — a used Bible, Christian book, seminary materials — because they understand the power that’s found in the Word.”

Woolford says, “We have another partner that we’ve worked with that is a business owner who has taken containers in the past. So we’ll have to send into some of the other states where this anti-conversion law is not happening and we’ll have to be very strategic with it. We’re not going to stop trying to get the Word of God, especially when they’re trying to stop it from coming in.”

Pray for open doors to God’s Word in India. Ask the Lord to soften the hearts of those who don’t know Jesus Christ with biblical truth.

Excerpt: Africa (MNN) – World Missionary Press has a long history of spreading the Gospel in Africa. Now, they’re doing even more.

Africa (MNN) – World Missionary Press has a long history of spreading the Gospel in Africa. Now, they’re doing even more through partnerships with other ministries.

A ministry in Rwanda recently asked WMP for help reaching people in nine other African countries. Helen Williams says, “They want 100,000 this and 100,000 of that. And this is in Swahili and in French and, and Lingala. And they want all this literature.”

The ministry has already been using resources from WMP for years alongside its Rwandan humanitarian and medical services. WMP’s coordinator recommended an ongoing partnership as the ministry looks to expand into other nations.

“He said, I believe this is going to be a good contact for us and going to be a longtime partner reaching another area,” says Williams.

This isn’t the only exciting new African contact. The Evangelical Alliance in the Democratic Republic of Congo requested Scripture booklets to reach 300,000 people. The booklets would support evangelistic outreaches in several areas across their province.

Expanding Gospel Opportunities

WMP is working hard to keep up with these and other requests coming in for the literature. They point to a greater movement of God working in Africa. Williams says, “The Lord seems to be opening up these new opportunities.”

Recently, a donor provided $150,000 to fund literature for Africa. WMP committed to raise another $150,000 this year to match the donor’s gift, for a total of $300,000. Called “The Founder’s Challenge,” the campaign will cover the production and shipping of Scripture booklets four countries: South Africa, Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Nigeria.

Learn more about the Founder’s Challenge and how to support the work on WMP’s website. Gifts of any amount are welcome and make a difference. Pray that believers who have a passion for Africa will join The Founder’s Challenge.

Williams says, “World Missionary Press is expanding, we’re increasing our production, we’ve got our new building, we’ve got our new machinery. There just seems to be this sense of ‘do it now.’ Here’s the people. Here’s the opportunity. Do it now.”

Colombia (MNN) – Distributing Gospel literature in Colombia has great rewards in return for the effort.

Colombia (MNN) — Distributing Gospel literature in Colombia reaps great rewards.

Helen Williams of World Missionary Press says it’s challenging to transport materials, especially through the mountainous regions. But a local partner helps move boxes of the Scripture booklets across the country into several areas, including Bogotá, Cali, and Medellin. Every box has 500 pieces of literature printed to share the Gospel.

“They’re going by motorcycle in the mud. They’re walking from village to village. They’re climbing mountains to get to villages. They’re putting the boxes on their heads and carrying them all over the place,” Williams says.

The hard journey is worth it when the Scripture booklets get into the hands of Colombian pastors.

WMPs local partner in Colombia helps to distribute Scripture booklets across the country.

“He says that pastors are happy with the literature,” Williams says. “He’s passing them on to other pastors. Even when these pastors get just one box, or whatever they’re passing it on. The Word is spreading, but it takes a lot of time and a lot of work and money to get it there.”

With more and more Venezuelans crossing the border, they also receive the literature and learn about the Gospel. At the start of 2023, Colombia had 3 million Venezuelans seeking asylum and more on the way.

Opportunities to share the Gospel continue to increase, and people are responding.

One Colombian pastor told WMP, “Many are learning about Christ and the need to be discipled more and more. We sincerely appreciate your support in this valuable work of evangelism.”

Williams wants believers to be encouraged and know that “God is at work in so many places in the world.”

To meet demand, WMP is preparing to send another 40-foot shipping container full of literature that will reach thousands more in Colombia. You can support the work of WMP here. Every dollar can produce 24 Scripture booklets for people who don’t know the Gospel.

Brazil (MNN) -- Blessings for Brazil hopes to send three 40-foot containers to Brazil.

Brazil (MNN) – Backed by a sizable a matching grant, World Missionary Press is ramping up a new program to send Gospel materials to Brazil.

Helen Williams with World Missionary Press says that recently a donor approached them and offered a matching grant of up to $110,000. After careful thought they decided to use the funds for all one project and send materials to Brazil.

She says, “We will be launching a project called Blessings for Brazil, later in October, and then carrying it on for three months to raise matching funds to get three containers of material (primarily in Portuguese, and some in Spanish), for our major distributors to use throughout Brazil.”

A New Openness to the Gospel

Four World Missionary Press distributors throughout Brazil will split three 40-foot containers filled with materials. These distributors reach people in every region of the country.

The distributors are thrilled about the opportunity. Williams said one partner shared that the timing was perfect. “He was so excited. He said now is just the time; he said they’ve got a new government that is a little bit more conservative, that defends religion, and is not as difficult to work with as before, in the last 15 years. People have been encouraged to evangelize even more. He said there’s an even greater openness to the Gospel – more opportunities.”

Williams says that despite COVID-19 slowing down distribution in larger cities, there is still lots of distribution occurring in the country. The Gospel is breaking into areas that have been filled with idolatry and pagan worship for many years. Some pastors are even going door to door with the good news of the Gospel.

Get Involved

The prospects are exciting, but the project is big. Williams asks for prayer.

“I think we want to pray for those open hearts to receive the Word and for a harvest. We don’t want to pour material in just to say, ‘Look, what we did. We got a lot of material: we got six, seven million pieces into Brazil.’ We want to see God’s direction and His Spirit move and see a harvest.”

Pray that God would open hearts and minds to hear the truth of the Gospel and respond. Please also pray for the distributors and pastors who work with World Missionary Press in Brazil. Pray that God would encourage and strengthen them for their work.

Please also join the project! Williams says that every dollar counts as they march toward the goal of $110,000. Join the work financially by visiting the Blessings for Brazil project here.
