Mozambique (MNN) -- Medical workers can now reach their patients, thanks to FH

Mozambique (MNN) — Food for the Hungry has eliminated the need for medical paperwork in rural Mozambique. With the help of Dimagi Inc., they've made a way for healthcare workers to get patient data in the field, just by using their cell phones. Now workers can spend more time getting to patients and less time on paperwork.

Through this health project, workers can easily access and store data using their phones instead of paper notebooks. There are many positive results already. It has improved timeliness for patient visits, reduced time for data entry collection, and has reduced attrition for community health care workers.

The launch of cell-phone-enabled healthcare targets 5,000 children in a hard-to-reach area of Mozambique. This area has one of the highest malnutrition rates in the country, and because of their work on cell-phone-enabled healthcare, FH and Dimagi Inc. were nominated for a global award.

Pray that this project will continue to improve health care. Pray for the children of Mozambique.
