Nepal (MNN) -- MNN listeners help Keys for Kids send the Gospel to Nepal.

Nepal (MNN) — MNN shares mission-centered headlines to stir God’s people to action. Often, that action looks like prayer, and sometimes it means giving to support a project.

Last month, Greg Yoder of Keys for Kids told MNN about the need for Storytellers in Nepal. They’re solar-powered MP3 players loaded with an audio Bible and Keys for Kids content.

Along with communicating the need on Keys for Kids’ channels, “Many, many people who were listening to Mission Network News heard our pleas,” Yoder says.

“It went slow for a while, but then all of a sudden, God just moved into the hearts of people and blew the doors off. We hit the $20,000 mark with no trouble at all.”

Kid-to-kid ministry

Children on both sides of the story played important roles. In the U.S., an eight-year-old girl heard about the need while listening to the Keys for Kids mobile app. She decided she would make and sell cookies to help.

“She was able to raise $200. That’s enough for 10 Storytellers, so about 1,500 kids will be able to hear the Gospel because of the work she did,” Yoder says.

Because of your generosity in the Nepal Storyteller Campaign, more than $25,000 has been raised. That means at least 1,270 will be translated into Nepali—bringing God’s Word to villages and families who may have never heard the Gospel before.
(Photo, caption courtesy Keys for Kids)

Nepalese children at an international school learn English by listening to Keys for Kids. They also heard of the need through the Keys for Kids app and wanted to contribute.

Yoder’s contact at the school – unnamed for security purposes – told him:

“Our school held our Mini Market on Monday, 16 March, to raise money for the Keys for Kids Storytellers project in Nepal. We raised NPR (Nepali rupees) 35,020. This is not a large amount, equating to about $US237. However, we were pleased with this. For context, this would be the equivalent of almost two months’ wages for a daily wage earner in Nepal. Our students had a great time planning and running the market with the support of parents and staff. As I mentioned earlier, the whole idea was student-initiated.”

Several ministry leaders also learned about the project and contacted Keys for Kids to request Storytellers. The directors said they needed material for children.

“This has become a growing ministry now; it’s not just a Keys for Kids and Good News Nepal outreach,” Yoder says.

Next steps

Storytellers have been ordered for Nepal, and could be shipped to eagerly waiting believers at the end of April. Praise God for obedient servants who put faith into action to make production possible. Pray that entire families will turn to Christ as they hear the Gospel through Storytellers in Nepal.

“It is a place where Hinduism reigns, which means they have a lot of gods that sit on their mantle,” Yoder says.

“We don’t just want them to add Jesus; we want them to make Jesus the Lord of their life.”

Keys for Kids Ministries partners with dozens of organizations worldwide that not only distribute Storyteller units but also establish listening groups where entire families can listen to the stories and the audio Bible, then discuss them.

Albania (MNN) -- Sometimes the Lord takes a little longer than you expect to answer prayer, but faith holds on.

Albania (MNN) — Sometimes the Lord takes a little longer than you expect to answer prayer, but faith holds on.

Keys for Kids had Albanian material sitting in storage for a long time, waiting for an opportunity.

“The Albanian Storytellers are one of our oldest Storytellers,” Executive Director Greg Yoder says.

“It was translated by a radio station in Albania [when] they needed children’s programming. We thought, ‘Well, we’ll just put what they record on the Storyteller,’ but we didn’t really have a solid partner on the ground [to] use them.”

Fast-forward to 2026, when an Albanian pastor in West Michigan contacted Keys for Kids. His brother, a pastor in Albania, needed resources for an outreach program this summer.

Located just north of Greece, Albania is home to nearly three million people. Most of them adhere to Islam, while roughly a third follow Christian tradition. Less than one percent of the Christian population holds evangelical views, according to Joshua Project.

The believers who connected with Keys for Kids “work in a lot of the mountain regions of Albania where they don’t have internet connection,” Yoder says.

“They’re anticipating that these Storytellers will be just what they need to help facilitate not just evangelism, but discipleship among Christians in Albania.”

Next steps

Now that you know, what will you do with this information? First, praise God for His faithfulness. “This has been an almost 10-year answer to prayer, that God is providing someone to use these Storytellers, so we’re very, very excited,” Yoder says.

“A significant number of people will hear the Good News of Jesus once they’re all distributed.”

Second, consider giving to support this work. Keys for Kids needs your help to produce Albanian Storytellers in bulk. They had some prepared, but not enough to meet the demand for 500 units.

If Keys for Kids can meet the need and partners distribute all 500 units, approximately 75,000 people will encounter the Gospel!

During a listening party led by Keys for Kids partners, “On average, about 150 people will listen to one Storyteller,” Yoder says. “You listen to the Keys for Kids story, then you listen to Scripture, and then you ask questions.”

Third, pray alongside Keys for Kids.

“We’re praying that the Holy Spirit will open hearts, and that these pastors and lay leaders within Albania will get the training they need [to] utilize them to the best of their ability,” Yoder says.

Nepal (MNN) -- A solar-powered MP3 player is opening doors for the Gospel in a former Hindu kingdom.

Nepal (MNN) — A handheld, solar-powered MP3 player is opening doors for the Gospel in a former Hindu kingdom. Yet threats follow closely on the heels of opportunity.

While Nepal’s constitution guarantees religious freedom in theory, anti-conversion laws make it illegal for someone to change their faith. Local authorities often monitor Christian activity, and believers risk arrest, fines, or imprisonment.

Despite the dangerous context, Keys for Kids partners are requesting 1,000 Storytellers to help bring Jesus to unreached families.

“For $20,000, we’re going to distribute 1,000 Keys for Kids Storytellers to people who desperately need it, in crazy places like the Himalayan Mountains, where you can’t even get by car,” Keys for Kids’ Greg Yoder says.

Here’s how you can help.

Why Storytellers?

Partners request the Storytellers because these audio devices work well in Nepali culture. “In Nepal, reading is not at the top of the agenda. It’s listening. They’re oral learners,” Yoder explains.

“With the Keys for Kids Storytellers, they can have God’s Word speaking to them every day, all day, if they want to.”

As described here, the devices contain the New Testament and Keys for Kids stories in Nepali, making them especially effective for families. Children and adults often listen together.

Across Nepal, kids, teens, and families are eager to hear about Jesus in their own language. Storytellers make that possible — sharing Scripture through audio where books, electricity, and the internet aren’t available.
(Photo, caption courtesy Keys for Kids)

“What’s great about the Keys for Kids stories is that they always teach a simple biblical truth,” Yoder says.

“In places like Nepal, where 80 percent of their culture is Hindu and the others are predominantly Buddhist, they don’t know biblical truth.”

A $20 tool with lasting impact

Each Storyteller costs just $20, yet its impact is extraordinary. On average, 150 people will listen to a single device — gathering in homes, villages, and churches to hear Scripture and Keys for Kids stories together.

Local pastors see these Storytellers as a game-changer — but demand has quickly outpaced supply. Sporadic deliveries over the past six years kept Storytellers in stock. Now, however, church leaders have nothing left to give.

Help send Keys for Kids Storytellers to Nepal here. Most importantly, pray. Pray Keys for Kids receives the funding needed to produce and send 1,000 Storytellers to Nepal.

Pray also for Keys for Kids and its partners as opposition increases online and on the ground.

“We started advertising the fact that we needed to raise funds for this project on social media. Many Nepalese nonbelievers have taken to Facebook, and they’re saying things like, ‘Keep your religion in your own home country’ and ‘Don’t try to indoctrinate our children,’” Yoder says.

Int'l (MNN) -- Keys for Kids looks for funding to increase international impact

Int’l (MNN) – God is creating opportunities for Keys for Kids Ministries to head into unreached and difficult to reach places — and they are eager to go. However, more opportunities means they need additional funding.

(Photo courtesy of Keys for Kids)

Greg Yoder with Keys for Kids recently returned from a conference in Canada and says, “Out of that missions conference, we have no less than probably four opportunities to go into different languages. One opportunity we could go into a nation that is unreached with the Gospel. I can’t even mention it to you. Even while we were standing there on the floor making connections, I had to tell him, ‘We would love to do this, but we don’t have the funding.’ And so we exponentially need to raise funds for these projects.”

Sharing Christ Through Storytellers

The requests keep coming for more materials, especially for the Keys for Kids Storytellers. These solar-powered MP3 players are stocked with a complete, dramatized audio Bible as well as hundreds of Keys for Kids devotionals. For new Christians and even pastors the stories bring the Word of God to life.

In addition to the needs identified at the conference, Keys for Kids has been contacted by local pastors and organizations in Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and others looking for materials. It costs Keys for Kids about $50,000 to send 2500 Storyteller units to Afghanistan. The cost for Pakistan is similar. The requests in Nepal are smaller but still substantial. In Kenya there is a children’s pastor asking for Storytellers as well.

Making a Way for Gospel Impact

Right now two of the most pressing projects are Storytellers in Urdu for Pakistan and in Farsi for Iran. Both projects would be completed in cooperation with FMI. However, these projects and the others need funding.

Yoder says, “Pray over the unreached areas of the world that haven’t been reached with the Gospel. Perhaps God could open those doors for us to be a part of that opening that door. Then be generous. Give as much as you can and encourage others to do the same. We’re looking again for churches to basically treat us like a mission organization and to come alongside us as a mission sending agency, because we’re literally sending these devices with pastors, with lay leaders, with missionaries that are going into the field and proclaiming the liberating power of the Gospel through these storytellers; and they’re having an amazing impact.”

Please pray that Keys for Kids would get enough funding to complete these projects.
Egypt (MNN) -- A housewife in Egypt cannot read, but now she can hear about Jesus.

Egypt (MNN) – When it comes to methods of sharing the Gospel, it is not a one-size-fits-all. Ministries must assess needs, recognize opportunities, and be ready for their methods to shift. Among refugees in Egypt, for example, there is a specific need for audio Bibles.

“Inspiring the Body of Christ to rise up and join the new great awakening among Jews and Muslims in the Middle East and in uncharted territories around the world.” Caption and photo courtesy Uncharted Ministries.

Erik Ouimette of Uncharted Ministries says that the literacy rate in Egypt is about 75%. And it’s the 25% who cannot read who need special consideration for how they will learn about Jesus.

“They tend to be the same population that don’t have access to smart phones or much technology,” Ouimette explains, “And so, our team constantly is meeting with folks, having these wonderful experiences and then not being able to give them a paper Bible because they’re not able to read it.”

The impact of an audio Bible

Through ministry connections in the United States, Uncharted Ministries was able to get hundreds of Arabic audio Bibles to Egypt this fall.

While the situations that cause displacement are not to be celebrated, they do offer a unique opportunity to reach people with hope. And it’s not unreasonable to think that someday, they’ll be able to go back home and share that hope with others. This could change a nation from the inside out.

So, what is the impact of an audio Bible? It could be an isolated housewife having the opportunity to meet Jesus for the first time.

The Gospel of John through earbuds

On a recent trip to Egypt, Ouimette tagged along on a visit to the home of a Syrian refugee couple. The husband and wife, now living in an apartment, have been displaced for the last eight years.

Photo courtesy of Erik Ouimette of Uncharted Ministries.

This was the third or fourth visit from Uncharted Ministries. The husband seemed interested in the Gospel. But turning to Jesus comes with a price. Ouimette says to do so, they would lose their ummah—their Muslim community and identity.

During this visit, the husband spoke with the team while the wife served tea and coffee, entering the room several times. Eventually one of the men noticed that she was standing in the kitchen with an ear to the conversation.

He invited her back into the room and put an earbud in both the husband and the wife’s ears and started playing the book of John. And so, for the first time, she got to hear the Gospel.

Ouimette describes the scene: “They’re quiet. They’re not doing anything. They’re not asking questions. They’re just listening. And afterwards, there’s some discussion.

“And the husband tells our team […] ‘This is good, that you would bring this Bible for my wife, because she cannot read, she cannot write. And so, a paper book is no good. It is good that you bring an audio book so that she can hear this.’”

Before they left, the team leader showed them that their tv remote had the same batteries as the audio Bible. Later, he explained to Ouimette that women in Arabic cultures often stay home all day while the men work. This was his way of letting the wife know where she could always find new batteries for the audio Bible. That way, she could listen to the Bible all day long if she wanted.

Ask God to work in the hearts of this husband and wife. Pray for them to find hope—and even community—in Christ.

Pakistan (MNN) -- Pakistani Christian partners can't keep Storytellers on the shelves.

Pakistan (MNN) — Keys for Kids Ministries partners with FMI to distribute Storytellers in Pakistan. Storytellers are mp3 players loaded with an audio Bible and Keys for Kids stories. Unfortunately, they’ve hit a devastating roadblock: Lack of funding.

Greg Yoder, Executive Director of Keys for Kids, says, “We literally have kids that want to know spiritual truth in Pakistan – Christian and Muslim families! And the only thing holding us back is not having the funds.

“It just got me thinking, wow, we have the cure. If we had the cure for cancer, we would be providing this and money would be flowing in. But we have the cure for eternal life, and yet we don’t have the funds.”

(Photo of a boy in Pakistan with a Storyteller, courtesy of Keys for Kids Ministries)

Keys for Kids has translated Storyteller content into Urdu for distribution in Pakistan. Many Pakistani kids have to work to help provide for the family and they are unable to read. Biblical audio stories are a critical way to connect with these children and their families and introduce them to Jesus.

As word-of-mouth spreads, the demand for more Storytellers is growing!

Christian partners in Pakistan tell Keys for Kids they literally can’t keep Storytellers on the shelves, they go so quickly.

“As we’re hearing these stories from our friends there…they said, ‘We don’t have any more in inventory in the Urdu language,'” Yoder says. “I’m thinking to myself, ‘Why? Why is this?’ It’s simply, we don’t have the money. That’s the bottom line.”

The ministry knows one Pakistani pastor who says he could easily distribute 600 Storytellers per month, if only he could continue to get them.

Yoder explains, “One hundred and fifty people generally, on average, will listen to a Storyteller…. I mean, think about that – 600 [Storytellers] times 150 is 90,000 people; 90,000 people times 12 [months] is one million people!”

If just 20 churches, businesses, or individuals gave $500 a month to Keys for Kids, one million people in Pakistan would hear the Gospel over the next year.

Keys for Kids also plans to translate Storyteller audio content into Pashto for distribution in neighboring Afghanistan.

Give any amount today at the Keys for Kids website!

Yoder also asks, “Pray that somehow, beyond whatever we could ask or imagine, God would provide funding in the most amazing way, that we could see not only Pakistan but Afghanistan reached for the Gospel.”

Nigeria (MNN) – In Northern Nigeria, God is drawing new believers to Himself.

Nigeria (MNN) – In an area of Africa fraught with violence and poverty, God is drawing new believers to Himself.

Greg Kelley with Unknown Nations says he recently visited an area of Northern Nigeria that is almost exclusively Muslim. In addition to the lack of Gospel saturation, the poverty is striking. He says, “When you come you feel the depravity of the people’s lives. You see poverty in every direction. You see villages that people are suffering just for daily necessities, drought conditions, and yet God is moving in power in this place.”

Two Villages Turn to God

God’s work has been especially evident in two villages in the area. Despite political and social turbulence a team was able to complete a water project in one village. This opportunity opened the door to sharing the Gospel with the village chief. As a result, he and his whole village turned to the Lord in repentance and faith.

As if that were not extraordinary enough, God miraculously healed a man with epilepsy in a second village.

(Image courtesy of OCHA on Wikimedia Commons)

Kelley says, “It caught the attention of all of the leaders in the area, particularly the witch doctor, who had tried many times to heal this individual, but to no avail. But God healed him through the power of the Holy Spirit. Now both of these villages in northern Nigeria, near the border of Niger, are 100% Christian. It’s just an unbelievable experience for us here at Unknown Nations.”

A Cause for Rejoicing

Believers in these villages are hungry for the Word of God. By their own reports, they cannot spend enough time hearing about their Savior.

“They’re consuming the Word of God. They’re listening to the Treasure, our solar powered audio Bible. The witch doctor himself, he testified. He listens now to the Word of God from sunup until sundown. We are rejoicing in what God is doing in this part of the world.”

Please pray that God will continue to grow these new believers in truth and understanding of the Gospel.

Mali (MNN) — Mali’s military leaders have delayed a presidential election slated for February 2024, citing “technical” reasons. Critics fear the move will draw sanctions from West Africa’s regional bloc.

This is the second time Mali’s junta – which emerged from two coups in 2020 – postponed the election. A 2024 vote was supposed to signal Mali’s return to democratic rule.

Give towards The Treasure audio Bibles with World Mission here!

“So many of these areas have people who are oral learners, they prefer to learn in a non-literate way, so we distribute solar-powered audio Bibles. Jesus has called us to make disciples. It’s very difficult to make a disciple in the absence of the Word of God,” Kelley says.

“They’ve never had access to the Gospel. No one’s ever gone there. We have indigenous church planters on the ground in both Mali and Niger sharing the Gospel.”

Finally, pray for the people of Mali to place their trust ultimately in the Lord.

Nigeria (MNN) -- The latest attack on believers this week left 42 dead and dozens of homes razed to the ground.

Nigeria (MNN) — This week’s latest attack on believers in Nigeria left 42 dead and dozens of homes razed. World Mission’s Greg Kelley says, “Christian villages are being wiped off the map, particularly in northern Nigeria.”

Recent reports show that terrorists have killed more than 50,000 believers since 2009. Over a thousand Christians were killed between January and April this year, claims the Nigeria-based International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety).

“The leaders we work with in Nigeria are worn out [and] fed up. They were really [hoping] this last election would be someone who would come in and create some accountability, and that didn’t happen,” Kelley says.

“The President has been ignoring the situation (violence and persecution) over the last ten years. As a result, people don’t feel safe at all.”

World Mission partners with local churches to reach Nigeria’s unreached people with the Gospel. Connect with World Mission here to send solar-powered audio Bibles called Treasures in Nigerian languages.

President-elect Bola Tinubu will succeed the current Nigerian ruler, Muhammadu Buhari, on May 29. “There’s a lot of frustration among Christians; they’re not optimistic that anything will change. They are pleading for the world to be praying for them,” Kelley says.

“The government is trying to cater to key (Fulani) influencers; the Fulani have tremendous influence in the business community and throughout the government. [The government has] allowed them (the Fulani) to have their way without any consequence, and that’s been the real frustration for Christians.”

On May 30, Intersociety plans to unveil another report describing the “government’s failure to address attacks against Christians” under Buhari’s watch.

Additionally, the International Religious Freedom Report, released earlier this week, recommends a Country of Particular Concern designation for Nigeria. As explained here, CPC designations can influence U.S. policy toward a nation and individuals. The Biden administration removed Nigeria from the CPC list in 2021.

Ask the Lord to strengthen and sustain His people in Nigeria. Pray World Mission’s audio Bibles will open Nigerian hearts to God’s love and truth.

Guatemala (MNN) — A new partnership means resourcing children's ministries in Guatemala City.

Guatemala (MNN) — In the capital of Guatemala, poverty is pervasive and gang members reign supreme. Kids are vulnerable to gang activity in Guatemala City, and many are malnourished.

It’s in this difficult context that Guatemalan pastors are ministering Christ’s hope and trying to support families.

Greg Yoder, executive director of Keys for Kids Ministries says, “These churches are kind of oases within Guatemala City itself where the problems really exist, where there’s gang activity and the like.

“Many of them have been working for years and years, and there are no accolades at all. I mean, they are in the trenches. It’s like a battleground for them. Some of them are in [areas with] gang activities and there’s extortion going on all around them. In fact, one church is even closed because they couldn’t pay this extortion that they were asked to pay by these gang members.”

Boys share a Storyteller.
(Photo courtesy of Keys for Kids)

Keys for Kids recently partnered with World Orphans to provide critical Gospel resources for these pastors. World Orphans provides holistic support for pastors and families in Guatemala. But they need resources for parents and pastors to teach the Gospel to kids in a consistent and accessible way.

Yoder explains, “One of the things that’s a challenge for them is, what do they offer families that are maybe are limited in their education? Maybe they don’t read well or maybe they’re illiterate completely. How do you offer families material that will really help them grow in their faith or even understand who Jesus is?”

This is where Keys for Kids comes in. The ministry’s Spanish translated materials like Unlocked teen devotionals or Creature Feature Storytellers can encourage children and teenagers with Gospel hope.

When he spoke with the pastors in Guatemala, Yoder says, “They are dreaming of ways they can use it. They were telling us these stories are perfect for kids that are non-churched. They’re going to understand Jesus in a way that they have never been able to tell them before. It’s not going to be like using their Sunday School material. It’s going to be using unique material that will help them share the Good News of Jesus with these kids and families who are really struggling.”

There are still several details to work out. But one thing is certain: This partnership is an answer to many prayers.

“We had been praying for probably seven or eight years that God would find a partner with us that could use our Spanish material in a way that we couldn’t even imagine. We believe that God has opened this door. And they told us yesterday that we’re an answer to their prayer!”

(Photo courtesy of Keys For Kids)

Please continue to pray with Keys for Kids as they grow this new partnership with World Orphans to encourage children’s ministry in Guatemala.

“We’re really asking people to pray for us, that God will provide the resources needed both in terms of people (because we can’t do it with our current staff) and then also the funding that we need to really ramp up our Spanish program,” Yoder asks.

“Pray that God will protect these churches, that these oases will continue to provide hope for many in these communities.”
