England (MNN) -- HCJB Global is partnering to provide Olympic outreach coverage

England (HCJB/MNN) — OneSheep, a new media ministry initiative of HCJB Global and FEBA, is excited to announce the "Spirit of the Games" internship program. This internship is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students interested in experiencing first-hand new media in a dynamic ministry setting.

OneSheep is looking for bright, passionate, and creative individuals who have a heart to use their talents in social media, video production, and communications for God's kingdom.

The program will be centered around the Olympics Games in London, England, an event that attracts millions and presents a fantastic opportunity for evangelism. Each member of the team is already in England and will continue to serve through August 13 to work with global partners and ministries in a joint effort to present the Christian worldview through the Olympics with engaging content and presentation. Through video production, social networking, and fan interaction on a OneSheep-created and driven Web site, participants will play integral roles in the project, facilitating evangelism from London out to the world.

After orientation in Worthing, England, team members will travel to London for the remainder of the program, where they will find themselves right in the middle of Olympic action. Each member will be directly contributing both around the city and in media rooms, communicating online with fans, producing video content and a daily blog, and gathering stories that share Christ with the world. All the while they will be immersed in ministry in a brand new way, not to mention receiving invaluable field experience in their focus areas.

Seven "Spirit of the Games" team members will assist Planet Sport, a digital media ministry serving at the Olympic Games in London. They're working on an exciting project in cooperation with 2K Plus International, developing skills in video, social media, and storytelling in a dynamic, partnership-driven environment. Two of them speak Spanish and will provide content to media in Latin America.

With the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympic Games fast approaching, OneSheep is working hard at improving their work process, practicing with various types of online content, and making practical applications to the things they have been dreaming of and laboring to build.

Ellie Brecunier, writing for HCJB Global, notes that "over the past months and now continuing through into autumn, they are effectively assisting Planet Sport in moving its fifteen-minute radio program into a well-rounded, multi-media venture, working with 2K Plus to improve its Web site, social media presence, and understanding of today's media environment."

Begin praying now that ministries working at the Olympic Games will be able to successfully tell people about Christ so that athletes and fans can understand saving faith.

India (MNN) -- Peace talks over Kashmir move forward

India (MNN) — Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan met
last week to lay the groundwork of upcoming peace talks.

The countries remain concerned about the threat of
terrorism but are committed to hammering things out during the next round of foreign minister
level talks.

Foreign
Ministers are slated to meet later this month in New Delhi–the first
formal talks between them since the 2008 attacks on Mumbai, India's financial
hub.

Both India and Pakistan claim Kashmir. The history of the region was bathed in the
blood spilled in three wars fought since 1947, when the territory gained
independence from Britain. Lee DeYoung with Words of Hope says, "Security personnel there can be seen
patrolling vulnerable areas. People are fearful for their lives." The atmosphere always has a tension to it,
for good reason. DeYoung goes on to say,
"In the last year, there has been a considerable uptick in violence, in
terrorism; much of the area has been under curfew. It's been difficult to
conduct daily life."

For example, DeYoung explains, "Many Kashmiris have lost
their jobs because tourism has been deeply depressed due to the threat of
violence."

Yet the tone set by the Foreign Secretaries bodes well for
what may be accomplished later this month. "There is
a hope that dialogue might be possible," DeYoung says, warning that there's a
lot of work to be done. "One of the
issues of contention, however, is the continuing alleged infiltration of weapons
across the border from Pakistan-controlled Kashmir into India-controlled
Kashmir."

Weary from years of terrorist bombings and killings, many
Kashmiri Muslims are more open than ever to Christ's Gospel of peace. Words of Hope transmits from a site in Dhabayya,
United Arab Emirates. "We're hoping that the Gospel broadcasts certainly are
reaching a people who are hungry for good news, for peace. We're thankful that
it's possible to broadcast Christian programs to Kashmir."

It can be dangerous to openly express anything contrary to
the militant hard line, therefore the number of Christians in this region is
noted at significantly less than one half of one percent.

The 15-minute program, "Ray of Hope," is aired four
days a week and includes music, a health segment, and a Bible-based message.
Personal contacts have been made with listeners. The few seekers who respond to
the program need support and encouragement to stand for their faith in their
own community. Pray for continued growth and for God's Spirit to move in the hearts and minds of those who listen.

International (MNN) -- English broadcast brings spiritual and physical hope to listeners

International (MNN) — Many people
believe that they can improve their lives by learning the English language, but
that can be expensive and inaccessible.

For that reason, Words of Hope,
partnering with Far East Broadcasting Association and Back to God Hour, is producing
a Specialized English radio program called 'Spotlight.' 'Spotlight' covers a wide variety of subjects and is
currently broadcast by over 40 different radio stations around the world.

The programs use a limited vocabulary and a slow delivery
format to teach English as a second language. The programs are 15-minutes long, delivered at about half the pace
of normal speaking speeds. The content
is written in short, simple sentences, and the Web site provides a corresponding
vocabulary list.

The simplified English programs
are intended for listeners whose understanding of English is limited, but they are
also effectively reaching listeners with the hope of Christ.

Please pray that the seeds take root. Pray, too, that God will continue to bless and
expand this venture, which now enjoys a worldwide audience.
