International (OM/MNN) -- During Ramadan, let’s ask God to open the eyes and hearts of Muslims worldwide.

International (OM/MNN) — Islam is the second largest religion globally, with over 1.9 billion followers and almost a quarter of the world’s population.

Ramadan, a time of prayer and reflection for Muslims, has just started and will last until April 9.

Julyan, an OM leader, offers one point when confronted with comments like this from Christians, “When we look at the Muslim world, it seems unshakeable, and Muslims seem so hard to reach with the gospel. There are so few believers from a Muslim background, and those few have such a difficult time because of persecution. Surely praying for Muslims to come to faith in Jesus is a waste of time!”

You can use the OM Prayer Reach app (for Apple and Android) to pray for people groups in Muslim-dominant countries.

He says, “These are lies to stop us praying! The truth is that our God is a mighty God, and he is powerfully working in the Muslim world today.”

For many years, Jesus’ followers have faithfully prayed for their Muslim neighbors to discover the love and hope offered by Jesus alone, and God is answering those prayers.

Abdallah, a doctor living in Egypt, wanted to become a follower of Jesus. Still, he could not openly confess his new faith: his wife came from a devout Muslim family, and his children were students at Al Azhar University, which trains Muslim missionaries.

Abdallah was moved to faith by a neighbor who, despite being poorly treated by others, never lost his temper and lived out Christ’s love as he helped others. Those actions inspired Abdallah to ask how his neighbor could be so different from others he knew.

During Ramadan, we invite you to pray with us for God to open the eyes and hearts of Muslims worldwide. God can use you to be the neighbor someone is searching for. Who is your Abdallah?

A couple of prayer points:

Pray for Muslim women to have opportunities to thrive and be safe. May they be given strength during their trials of inequality and injustice.

Pray for Muslims worldwide who go on their Hajj pilgrimage that they may encounter the reality and salvation of Jesus along their journey.

Here are a couple of ways to pray specifically for people groups in Muslim-dominant countries:

You can use the OM Prayer Reach app (for Apple and Android) or

You can join the global prayer movement with Prayercast through the ‘Love Muslims’ campaign.

Algeria (MNN) -- Leaders used to teach that the Church was only a building.

Algeria (MNN) — Persecution can lead to purification in Christian teaching. In Algeria, pastors used to teach believers that “this building is your church,” says Youssef*, a Protestant Christian leader who partners with Operation Mobilization USA.

“A lot of the leaders focused on [growing] their own kingdom” with big and beautiful church buildings, he continues. As a result, the average Christian in Algeria understood that “the building has something to do with their faith.”

The government has closed Protestant churches nationwide in recent years, forcing believers underground. Initially, fear filled the hearts of most Algerian Christians. Many wondered how they could worship without a church building.

“Overcoming fear [has been] very, very important. When the churches closed, they (Christians) were lost [and] didn’t know what to do,” Youssef says.

Today, “we are trying to encourage [believers to meet in] house churches and cell groups.”

Believers rely on God for the strength and will to press on, and His mercies are new every morning.

“Where we are facing this persecution, there is an incredible movement of prayer and fasting. We’re not giving in; we must persevere by faith,” Youssef says.

“We were not prepared for this persecution, honestly. But God is in control.”

Yousseff and his wife Hee-Tee train Christian leaders and disciple-makers in Algeria with help from OM. You can support their efforts here.

“We want to pray for the best ones to be recruited for training and then for sending off. We hope we can send out 15 missionaries this year,” Hee-Tee says.

“Please pray that the Lord would bring quality people to us. We are very keen to train them [to] go [to] Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria [and] the ends of the earth.”

International (OM) — Verwer leaves a legacy centered on the Great Commission.

International (OM) — The death has been announced of George Verwer, who founded the global Christian mission agency, Operation Mobilization, and directed it for 45 years.

He passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home near London, England, on the evening of Friday 14 April. He was 84 years old.

George was born in New Jersey, USA, and committed his life to Christ at a Billy Graham meeting in New York City in 1955. Driven by the cause of world evangelism from then on, the teenage maverick went on to have immeasurable global impact. He has been described as “the most outstanding North American missionary statesman of the last 60 years.”

George Verwer (Photo courtesy of OM)

“George changed the face of missions in his generation,” said Andrew Scott, President of OM in the USA. “When the mission agencies of the late fifties were looking for highly trained individuals with seminary degrees who would commit to going for a lifetime, George invited young people who simply loved Jesus to come for a summer. This was new. This was different. Thousands came.”

Operation Mobilization began with three students in a worn-out van distributing Christian literature in Mexico, then branching into Europe and across the globe. Today, more than 3,000 OM workers are active in almost 150 countries, in a huge range of ministries. George’s daring vision in the 1960s led to ships being used to transport and train international volunteers while carrying a cargo of literature and aid supplies. Fifty million people have climbed the gangways of OM’s four ships, and at least double that number have come into contact with the Good News through outreaches and projects in port cities worldwide.

Movements like OM and its close contemporary, Youth With A Mission (YWAM), led the way in developing same- and near-culture workers to serve globally alongside those from established mission-sending nations and backgrounds.

OM’s International Director, Lawrence Tong, said, “George was passionate about Jesus, passionate for God’s Word and passionate for the lost. I believe he was God’s man for the 20th century, who changed the course of modern mission.”

George Verwer (Photo courtesy of OM)

“We should have thought he was a nutcase, but because of the Holy Spirit, we just knew that this was a man you could follow to the ends of the earth, and we had real confidence he was getting the mind of the Lord,” recalls Greg Livingstone, the founder of Frontiers.

He demonstrated a lifestyle of radical discipleship. “George’s legacy is that of a life-size example of a truly committed Jesus-follower,” said Akira Mori, a ministry pastor in Japan. “George had a God-given ability to inspire and exhort and challenge – but to me, the person was the example, the message and the challenge; much more than what he said.”

“George truly practised what he preached,” said Matthew Skirton, Field Leader of OM in the UK. “His authenticity and passion for reaching the lost, but also his humility and transparency when sharing about his struggles, have profoundly impacted me – and I know have touched, encouraged and challenged so many others.

“He was incredibly big-hearted and generous; he leaves behind an extraordinary legacy within OM, but also in hundreds of other organisations founded or led by OM alumni. He was a leader who pioneered a large, influential mission organisation, yet his heart was never primarily for OM’s mission but rather for God’s mission, God’s kingdom.”

Abu Dhabi, UAE :: OM founder George Verwer (USA) gives a message to crewmembers. (Photo, caption courtesy of OM)

Known for his world map jackets and for handing out more than a million free books, in the twenty years since he stepped down from leading OM, George managed special projects, spoke at church events with characteristic vigour and wrote more than a dozen books. A key theme was admitting his own imperfections and honouring God who graciously forgives and works through people, despite their mistakes. He called it ‘messiology.’

Lawrence Tong recalls, “many people, myself included, were baffled at the invention of the word. I realise more and more the truth and wisdom of what he packed into that one word alone. As usual, George the trailblazer was way ahead of us in his spiritual life, in his thinking, in his vision and in his interpretation of trends. There will never be another GV.”

Katherine Porter, one of OM’s associate international directors, said: “We celebrate a giant life lived large for Jesus, but what a gaping hole he leaves. Our lives are quieter now, but oh, the noise in heaven! For George, it’s all better now. For us who remain, the memories loom large and the loss is aching — but the legacy is immense.”

George is survived by his wife, Drena, their three children, plus grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Verwer family thanks partners all over the world for their prayers and asks for privacy at this time. Details of thanksgiving services will be released later.

Speaking in 2015, George summed up what drove him, long past retirement age:

“I’m still mega-motivated to see everyone in the world being given the gospel at least once…[to] have the opportunity to hear about saving grace through our Lord Jesus Christ, and I hope I can, right to my last breath, continue to share that message.”

“By God’s grace, we have classes going on and women’s ministry; we have people going into missions to the Middle East and North Africa,” Hie-Tee says.

“Hundreds and hundreds of thousands [of people have] been reached through our media ministry,” Youssef adds.

The government may be closing church buildings, but Algeria is home to one of the fastest-growing church movements in the Muslim world. These believers from a Muslim background have a Great Commission focus.

Algeria (MNN) -- A state-led campaign against Protestant churches continues in Algeria.

Algeria (MNN) — A state-led campaign against Protestant churches continues in Algeria. Last month, believers told MNN that only ten churches remained open in the entire country.

Today, “there are eight (churches) left open, but you never know for how long,” says Youssef*, a Protestant leader partnering with Operation Mobilization USA.

“[The remaining churches] have been visited by the authorities, and you never know what will happen tomorrow.”

A 2006 law set the tone for legal persecution. Then, “the plan started in 2018 to close down all the churches,” Youssef says.

“[From] 2019 to today, they have closed down 43 churches.”

The systematic church closures are part of a broader lockdown on individual freedoms. Last month, Algeria’s government shut down several civic groups. It also forced Algeria’s oldest independent human rights organization to close its doors.

“This is the situation we’re in. It’s quite sensitive, delicate, and challenging,” Youssef says.

The small but growing indigenous Christian population – mainly converts from Islam and their children – stands firm. “The Church in Algeria will never disappear because the vast majority of the Christians are Berber [and] Kabyle,” Youssef says.

As nomadic people groups, “they can meet anywhere. They have [the] Bible in their mother tongue; they have the worship songs in their mother tongues.”

Pray the Body of Christ will continue to grow in Algeria. Pray that many who are traumatized by violence will meet the Great Physician.

Poland (OM) -- OM teams in the countries around Ukraine are responding to the needs of those fleeing into their countries.

Poland (OM) — All day and late into the night, small groups of women and children and a few men make their way across the Ukrainian – Polish border. Clustered around their heavy suitcases, which carry the only earthly possessions they packed, and many with blankets wrapped tightly around their shoulders to keep warm, they seem to hurry towards a finish line.

“I’m not leaving for myself,” said Marina, a Ukrainian who just arrived at the border. “I’m leaving for her,” as she indicates her five-year-old daughter playing next to her. She left her home near the Belarus border at 5am on Saturday March 6 and travelled the width of the country to cross into Poland around 10pm that night. For many making the trip out of Ukraine, their only thoughts for most of their journey is getting to safety – fleeing the destruction or threat of bombs and missiles behind. “For over a week we lived in terror – mostly in the basement. I had to keep my daughter dressed all the time – so she couldn’t sleep well. I was constantly listening and thinking we have to flee – is a missile coming?” Marina shared. It was after the attack on the nuclear plant that she made the decision to go. At 26 years of age, she has left behind her husband, parents and relatives to take her daughter away from the risk of death.

As of March 9, almost 1.5 million people have left Ukraine for Poland, with several hundred thousand doing the same thing every day.

There are many others like Marina making impossible decisions to leave everything behind in the hope of safety.

And on the Polish side, the refugees are welcomed by volunteers who help escort arriving groups across the border: carrying heavy suitcases and tired children the final steps into safety. The volunteers have come to help during this crisis for a variety of reasons. Most are Polish, some from countries further away, but the rallying response seems to be that this is the time to help.

“Some Ukrainians arriving have no place to go once they get to Poland,” Weronika, OM’s country leader in Poland explained. “The government arranges for pick up for these people from the border to a welcome center where they have volunteers to help them. Others have contacts elsewhere that they are traveling to but have a long journey yet ahead – and these are the people we can help.” After the long, dangerous trips, where all they could think about was getting somewhere safe with their children, the women are exhausted and need a place to collect themselves before continuing. The OM team in Poland has set up trailers at two different border crossings to provide a safe, warm space for mothers and children to sit down, rest and eat something warm. Marina was one of these women who stayed in the OM trailer while she waited for a friend who was still in the immigration line in Ukraine.

From the border though, Ukrainians are traveling onward – wherever they have contacts or find a place to be housed for an unknown amount of time. Many of these people travel through major cities like Warsaw before traveling onwards. The OM team in Warsaw is networking and connecting generous Polish people who want to help with the urgent needs of the arriving Ukrainians. The highest need is for housing, either temporary or more permanent options.

“There are many Polish people that want to help but need to be linked with the needs of the Ukrainians,” Weronika shared. “Part of our job has been to help connect them with where the needs are.”

A young volunteer force makes calls every day to arrange for housing options as they pop up; often calls come in late at night of new arrivals needing a place for a family of 5 or 6 to sleep. Even in the first week that fighting broke out, several hundred people were housed in the homes of Polish people across the country through the network that OM has developed. The OM team has launched a website as well, to help make it easier for volunteers to know how and where help is needed.

Kutno is another Polish city that already had a high Ukrainian population. Now it has many of the relatives and contacts swarming into the quiet little town. An OM church plant there, with several Ukrainian members, has become an organizing center for the community’s response to the needs of those arriving. Arek and Donna planted the church 22 years ago and are now seeing their members serve the needs of those arriving. The church itself has been repurposed as a shelter, where people drop off food, clothing and essential needs for women, children and babies. The wider local community is opening their homes to welcome Ukrainians to stay, offering a spare apartment or even squeezing their family into one bedroom to free up another room for those in need.

OM teams helping refugees crossing into Poland.

“Now is the time to help,” Donna said as she bustles around the church, coordinating and organizing amid the chaos. Piles of donated clothing need to be sorted, food shelves in the small donation center need to be restocked and the constant arrival and departure of new Ukrainians needing housing means there is constantly something to do. Veronika, a woman who spent a night in the church before being placed in her own apartment, left Ukraine with her mother, two-year-old daughter and 16-day-old baby boy. “What do you need in the apartment? Is anything missing?” Donna asks her during a quick visit. Despite working tirelessly for the previous eight days, Donna takes time with the women – offering them words of encouragement and helping them find what they need in the church.

Everywhere, there is a strong volunteer force working with the OM teams to house and feed people, provide transport from the border to a housing option or to another city. These believers also engage in conversation with those who have just experienced the trauma of leaving so much behind. Those fleeing have left pieces of themselves behind with their husbands, loved ones and homes – and the weight of these choices is visible on their faces. People’s practical needs are easier to meet than the emotional scars they have accumulated through the crisis unfolding in Ukraine. “They need more than a juice pack and some snacks – anyone can provide those,” Weronika explained. “But what they really need is peace, a conversation with someone, to be seen as a human and listened to.” She and her team are working tirelessly to serve their neighbors from across the border with the respect and love they deserve.

OM teams in the countries around Ukraine are responding to the needs of those fleeing into their countries. They distribute food and essential supplies, coordinate housing options, and network with a wide array of volunteers to serve the needs of many.

Ukraine (OM) -- War means death and fear. The Gospel means life and peace. Can the two coexist?

Ukraine (OM) — On February 24, 2022, Russian troops entered Ukraine, and millions are expected to move towards safety elsewhere in Ukraine and across Europe.

Note: this story and video were recorded in 2017, but it is just as applicable today. They say they are not heroes, “we are simply doing what we should do. That’s being a true Christian.”

War means death and fear.

The Gospel means life and peace.

Can the two coexist?

Thanks to several “hero pastors” in Ukraine, with whom OM was privileged to partner, the answer is yes. “As the Bible says, when He sees trouble, He does not run away and He does not leave his flock,” says one pastor. “My pain for the people who died here forced me to keep risking my life to save others. This is our calling in Christ Jesus.”

In November 2013, thousands of Ukrainians gathered hopefully at the Maidan Square in what became known as the Kiev Maidan Revolution, watching, waiting, and praying for days. In the months that followed, clashes resulted, killing hundreds and wounding 1,100 others. The president fled to Russia, leaving the glorious riches of the palace displayed to the world, in stark contrast to the poverty many of his people experienced.

Then the Russians moved in.

Since then, many people have died. Even more have fled. Internally displaced people (IDPs) wander all over the country, in search of any sign of hope.

The Inbreaking Gospel

In this otherwise dark and bleak situation, a ray of light breaks in. It emanates from OM workers in Ukraine burning with the love of Jesus for the hurting people all around them. As the organization has done for 60+ years, OM is coming alongside the local church to mobilize resources, support workers on the ground and share the transformational power of the Gospel.

“The churches are busier than ever,” says Oleg, the OM team leader and a pastor in Rivne. “Many people are seeking God. It is really a new day. Since the Kiev revolution, there is a new sense of freedom. There is also the awareness that in our time of need, our help did not come from Europe, not from USA, but from God Himself. With our new president and people seeking God, we are excited to see what God will do. Please continue to pray for Ukraine, and for the new day dawning in our country.”

OM teams work with several churches in the cities of Odessa, Rivne, Vinnitsa, and Kaharlyk. They often focus on children through Sunday schools, clubs, and camps. The teams also:

Help IDPs from the war zone in the east

Reach out to Jews

Create new business opportunities

The OM team praises God for what He is doing in Ukraine and asks for further prayer…

PLEASE PRAY for:

God’s protection

An end to the war

The churches and OM teams to continue reaching those in need in many different, life-giving ways

Even more people to turn to God and experience spiritual freedom

The need is great and the time is now. Thank you for praying for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine!

Int'l (MNN) -- Christians face persecution reaching Gospel-resistant unreached people.

Int’l (MNN) – Over two billion people have never heard about Jesus. They are dying every day without the knowledge that God came to Earth to ransom their souls. That’s what missionaries to unreached people want to change.

In a time where travel is relatively easy and information travels across borders without physical couriers, it’s staggering to think that so many remain out of reach of the Gospel. Andrew Scott with Operation Mobilization (OM) says usually it is because those people are the hardest to reach.

Reaching the Unreached: A Dangerous Task

There may be geographical or linguistic barriers, but often the more pressing barrier is physical danger. According to the Alliance for the Unreached 90% of unreached people live in Gospel-resistant groups.

In the last year alone almost 3000 Christians were killed for their faith. The number is staggering. Yet God’s Word continues to spread.

Scott says, “This is the history of the church, that when we go in as Jesus followers there will come persecution. So I believe that we, as the people of God, need to be ready for that. I think it’s going to involve higher levels of risk. And that’s challenging in a risk averse world, certainly in the Western world. But it’s part of the reality in many of these places where people are putting their lives on the line and taking high risks to share the Gospel.”

Not Just a Possibility but an Expectation

Christian workers hope to not only share the Gospel but care for people in new places. They may offer medical expertise, further education or other services. The goal for OM and other organizations is to care for the whole person, but that doesn’t mean when they share Jesus, they won’t face persecution.

In fact, Scott says it is the opposite. Christians should expect persecution.

“These folks, many of them, of course, deep down, they want to be safe, and they want to be well. They want to live, but what they’re praying for – and therefore I think we should stand with them and pray – is that their lives will be salt and light in these communities. And that through their life, regardless of what happens to them, that that Jesus will be lifted up, and that people will come to know Him through their life and through their testimony.”

Pray for and Support the Church

As you celebrate the birth of Christ today pray for persecuted missionaries and the persecuted Church. The Gospel cannot be stopped, but there are many who stand in its way.

Scott encourages the Church to pray for endurance for missionaries to the unreached. Pray that God would strengthen His people as they continue to be lights for Christ in the face of persecution.

“[Pray] that people in these regions will see something in their lives and hear something in their words that that show them an alternative way. That as hope-filled, joy-filled, peace-filled [people, Christians] point them to someone who is their Savior, who loves them.

“And that [witness] very often is most brilliantly reflected through the life and testimony of a Jesus follower, rather than through the words. So let’s pray for the witness of their life.”

International (MNN) -- Can an artist be a missionary too? Operation Mobilization says yes

International (MNN) – Can an artist be a missionary, too? Operation Mobilization says yes, and their OM Arts program can help make that happen. OM Arts is working to connect artists to opportunities in the mission field.

Jack* from OM Arts explains that OM Arts’ goal is to use the unique skills artists bring to the table to spread the Gospel.

“Our focus is rather than seeing the arts as some kind of gimmick or a tool, but… God working through artists to contribute to and help facilitate the unique beauty of the worship and the witness of local communities of Jesus followers,” he says.

OM works with the unreached in the Middle East, South and Central Asia, and Europe. Before sending out artists on mission trips, OM Arts works to prepare them and bring out their skills to spread the Gospel in their own ways.

“We should be more encouraging to artists, while at the same time inviting them to step up more fully, into who God’s created them to be….We want to challenge our artists, to be reaching out in the culture, and to be helping us as we worship,” Jack says.

Christian Art

For OM Arts, art as a way to spread God’s Word comes in two categories: worship and witness.

An artist may choose to use their art as a way to worship God or to show others a piece of their story as a witness to God’s work in the world.

Jack explains that a big area of need in many countries is in their worship music. In many places, Christians are using translated English songs in their worship.

“There’s nothing wrong with English language songs, but the metaphors that are presented, they don’t touch the heart of those cultures that God has uniquely created. So, some of our projects are about helping local Jesus followers develop their own biblically appropriate, culturally relevant worship expressions,” he says.

Jack adds, “It can help foster unity within the church.”

Artists Creating

OM Arts works with artists and communities to use art in several ways. These include working on community projects and therapeutic programs.

“Art has a way of asking questions [and] delving more deeply into the world around us… Artists are able to ask questions [and] engage with people’s thoughts and hearts in a way that sort of that welcomes them in, [and] dares to think differently,” Jack says.

Going into the mission field to spread the Gospel using art is a unique opportunity. OM Arts asks for prayer for their artists and their mission trips.

Jack says, “Please pray for our hearts….Our real work is cultivating the characteristics in artists that allow them to thrive on mission, and especially in places where Jesus isn’t yet known.”

Pray for these artists to have the resources to go on mission trips. Pray that they can help share the Gospel through their art.

Ireland/Northern Ireland (MNN) -- Brexit could undo peace on the emerald isle

Ireland/Northern Ireland (MNN) – Brexit has thrown the United Kingdom, comprised of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, into an uneasy unknown. However, one country Brexit is affecting is not part of the United Kingdom: the Republic of Ireland.

Northern Ireland (N.I.) and the Republic of Ireland (ROI) are two separate countries with a shared history on the emerald isle. Learn about the complex history of the British Isles in this short video.

Currently, the United Kingdom is scheduled to take its leave from the European Union on October 31. However, no new progress has been made in negotiation talks to finalize Brexit plans. Find the latest on Brexit here.

The Irish Challenge Brexit Poses

On the emerald isle, Brexit has drudged up concerns for a hard border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, similar to the days of the Troubles. Some fear that a hard border could undo the relative peace which has been in place since the 1998 Good Friday Agreement. Learn about the Troubles here.

Already the tension has seen an emerging paramilitary group calling itself the New Irish Republican Army (New IRA), which admitted responsibility for the death of journalist Lyra McKee. McKee was shot during a riot in Londonderry last month. Londonderry, also called Derry, is the second largest city in Northern Ireland. It is located close to the ROI border with County Donegal.

“I think that it really stirred up a lot of fear in some ways that we’re going back maybe to something that we had before. For those of us who grew up during the Troubles, it’s the last thing that we want to go back [to]. It was an awful period of time to live through and we have really enjoyed such great peace here in Ireland,” says Alastair Kerr, national director of OM Ireland.

Echos of the Troubles

Along with the Brexit-irritated political divide is a religious divide that is complicating the work of OM Ireland.

“During the Troubles, it was certainly very difficult to share your faith. [Between] the Catholics and Protestants, there was such a big divide… we want to be able to connect with our neighbors [and] be able to share the Gospel with them, and so we don’t want to see any barrier for us to be able to share the Gospel with others,” Kerr explains.

Currently OM Ireland ministers in the south of the Republic of Ireland. Generally, their relationships with locals are good. However, Kerr says Evangelical Christians make up 1 percent of the Republic of Ireland’s population; the Joshua Project reports 1.56 percent of the population are Evangelical Christians. As violence resembling the Troubles has begun stirring, the potential for people to create barriers and become less open the Gospel is growing.

Pray for the Emerald Isle

During this uneasy time, will you pray with and for OM Ireland?

“Our prayer would be that it would still be that openness, that we would actually see the church growing here in Ireland,” Kerr says.

Man busking at Merchant’s Arch, Temple Bar, Dublin. (Photo/caption by Jordan Harrison on Unsplash)

Pray OM Ireland would impact areas in Ireland which have very little evangelical church presence. Ask God to water and grow the seeds of churches the OM team plants.

“If you look at Northern Ireland, there’s a church in every corner. But in the south of Ireland, there [have been] many years without any evangelical presence, and so our heart is just to see the church grow in those areas,” Kerr says.

Kerr mentions things are rapidly changing in Ireland. The country Kerr knew growing up is unrecognizable. As the nation continues to progress, other barriers to the Gospel have begun popping up, too. It is also becoming increasingly more difficult for foreign Christian workers to relocate long-term in Ireland and work with OM. Kerr asks for prayers for Irish leaders “to take responsibility for just reaching out into their own communities” and build relationships, invest in their communities, and share the Gospel.

“They’re the ones who are going to be able to relate best for those around them as well,” Kerr says.
