Iran (BPA/CLJ) — U.S. Pastor Saeed Abedini is facing threats of more prison time because he won’t stop telling people about Jesus. Some Muslim prisoners have placed their faith in Christ after hearing Saeed’s witness, and they’re also being targeted by officials.

Abedini’s wife, Nagmeh, recently shared this update with the Baptist Press (BP).

“He’s seeing people in such a dark place…on death row for murders and rapes, and just seeing people who are in prison whose future is so dark,” Nagmeh told BP’s David Roach.

“I know that his heart was to give them the hope that he’s found in Christ that no one can take away, even in prison.”

In the summer of 2012, Saeed Abedini was arrested and detained in Iran’s notorious Evin Prison. Iranian courts sentenced him in early 2013 to an 8-year imprisonment for his involvement in the Islamic Republic’s house church movement.

Although Abedini is an American citizen, he grew up in Tehran and drew harsher persecution from officials because he is a Muslim-background believer (MBB).

“He got saved from such a dark [past],” Naghmeh tells the BP. “At his conversion, Jesus saved him in such a radical way that he can’t deny Christ and he can’t stop sharing his faith. It’s in his DNA.”

Prayer continues to be the #1 need. But if you’re a U.S. citizen reading this, would you consider taking another step?

Click here to contact the Senator of your state. Ask him/her to exert pressure on Iran and free the U.S. citizen they’ve held captive and abused for nearly two years: Pastor Saeed Abedini.

  • We are blessed to have such pastors in our world at this present time! Through men such as Saeed Abedini, this continues to show that, despite the persecution of our brothers and sisters around the world, God is still in control of every single event in our lives! This man could have easily taken his light and buried it during his time in prison to lighten the heavy abuses he has endured. Instead:
“But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.” -Genesis 50:20
I’ll still pray and do what I can for this man’s release, but let us give thanks to God, for he has sent a worker into the harvest, to reap the fruits for our Lord Jesus Christ!

  • My prayers are with Mr. Abedini and his family. Praise the Lord for his testimony!

  • Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us, He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross, having disarmed principalities and powers, He has made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it…Colossians 2 :14-15

Surely the Lord Jesus Christ who redeemed us is with Saeed and his family. Shall uphole him in my prayer….Amen

  • My prayers are with you Mrs. Abedini and with your husband. Jesus radically saved him for the purpose and plan He has for him and I know that many are thankful that he is being that “light” in the darkness. My heart breaks for him because of what he is going through and I don’t even know him, so I can only imagine the pain you are going through. May God give you strength each and every day and carry you and your children through this time. MY desire also is for him to be released unharmed to you and your children and as Gerardo stated, do what I can do for his release, Let us give thanks to God for those who have now passed from death to life and will spend eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the suffering and the witness of your husband. May our God of Peace continue to comfort and strengthen you Nagmeh.
