Christmas Day and a party in Haiti.

By December 25, 2006

Haiti (MNN)–For Haiti With Love is marking 18 years of tradition today. The agency hosts an annual Christmas party for poverty-stricken children and their parents in Northern Haiti.

For months, the team has been moving toys, gifts, party supplies, food and medicine in preparation of their party in Cap Haitian.

On Christmas Day, over 500 attendees show up in their best clothes, excited over the festivities. They eat a hearty meal, followed by gifts and a program presenting the Gospel. What’s different says Eva DeHart, is that “…the kids often get something that they want, instead of something that they need.”

Typical gifts include toys and games for the children, jewelry for the mothers, and a T-shirt and playing cards or dominoes for the fathers.

The generosity always opens doors for the hope of the Gospel. For Haiti is on the ground 24/7 offering help for burn victims at their clinic, construction of new homes, feeding the hungry and a host of other outreaches in the name of Christ.
