Bondi Beach terror reflects Australia’s antisemitism

Australia (MNN) — Australian lawmakers promise to overhaul gun legislation following Sunday’s terror attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney. One advocacy group says Australia has seen more than 3,700 antisemitic attacks since the Gaza war started two years ago. While attackers around the world target Jews for slaughter, Mike with Global Catalytic Ministries says Gospel workers target them for salvation. Pray that believers will keep their eyes on Jesus during this politically divisive season.

Chinese government has a target on crosses, children, and underground churches

China (MNN) — Believers in China face pressure on multiple fronts. Under the Chinese Communist Party, the symbol of the cross, children’s discipleship, and underground churches are key battlegrounds. Floyd Brobbel with Voice of the Martyrs Canada explains that crosses have been torn down in recent years. Children are also not allowed to receive religious education. Church leaders are also under pressure. In November, eighteen leaders from the underground Beijing Zion Church were arrested. Pray for faithful gospel ministry and wise living for the Chinese church on these fronts.

God is moving in religious divides

Egypt (MNN) — In Egypt, laws and cultural expectations require Muslim-born people to remain in the religion. Muslim and Christian-born Egyptians are often easily identifiable by their names and show the customary separation between the two religions. The country’s public schools are primarily operated as Muslim schools, which can make schooling decisions difficult for Christian families.
