A birthday party celebration exposes hundreds to the hope of Christ.

CIS (MNN)–This Christmas will be the perfect time for a birthday party that could make an eternal difference in the lives of hundreds of children.

Bible Mission International is getting ready to launch such a Christmas outreach in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

BMI’s Malcolm Smith says this effort came as a result of followup from summer campaigns indicating people are very open to the hope of Christ.

Anticipating their response, they’ve decided to launch another program near Christmas, and they’re calling it “Birthday for the King.” Because parents generally let their children attend a birthday party, they’ll reach many with the Gospel. “We see this as a significant opportunity, in those difficult places, to build on relationships, and bring them to a point where they can have enough information that they can make a life-changing decision.”

Every $10 gift allows BMI to invite one person–child, youth, or adult–and provide them with a meal and a special present.

However, for those who respond to the Gospel, Smith says persecution is common. The next step for a believer is finding a discipleship program. “One of the unique programs that we offer at Bible Mission International are our correspondence courses that we offer through the mail, and also online, across the former Soviet Union. So, when it comes to information and wanting to grow and be discipled, there’s great opportunities.”
