A ministry building project gains momentum in Mozambique

By July 18, 2011

Mozambique
(MNN) — Audio Scripture Ministries is literally building ministry one brick at
a time in Mozambique.

The team in Xai Xai was outgrowing its shared facilities and last year
launched a fundraising project so they could build their own studios. ASM
has raised roughly half of the $90,000 they need for the building project, but
it's enough to start Phase 1 of the building project.

In the first week, the foundation
was laid. Two and a half weeks later,
teams laid about 100 meters of block wall, which meant they had three of the
four walls around the property up. The builders had already poured the
footing for the fourth wall, as well as the bond beam and pillars that hold
it all together.

By the first week of July, ASM had
added some serious sweat equity to this project. The ASM team negotiated with the supplier of
the cement blocks to give them a discount, which they would only do if they
bought in quantity. They bought around
6000 cement blocks, which were brought to the worksite in loads of 700, which
is enough to see them through the first floor of the building.

The team is praying that by the time this
phase is finished, they will have enough for Phase 2.  Pray for wisdom regarding the financial decisions to
be made as the dollar has become increasingly weaker in Mozambique. As a
result, supplies and equipment have become much more expensive.

Even while the new studios are being built, ASM has not stopped their
main work in Mozambique. Another group
is at the old Crown of Victory studios in Xai Xai working with a group of
readers. They are wrapping up three weeks of recording
the New
Testament in the Sena language.

Pray that God bless this process so that more people will have access
to the Word in their heart language in a format that they can use and
understand.
