AIDS creates a new place for ministry.

By January 23, 2004

South Africa (MNN)–UNAIDS, the United Nations AIDS body, estimates that almost 30 million people in sub-Saharan Africa are infected with the HIV virus.

South Africa, widely acknowledged as the country hardest hit by AIDS, is estimated to have more than five million people who are HIV-positive in a population of 45 million.

Conditions are deteriorating to the point where one political party is calling for the formation of a specific government branch devoted to AIDS problems and solutions.

In light of this, Evangelical Baptist Mission says they’re helping. EBM succeeded in getting permission for an outreach, and they’ve broken ground on new property for Bethesda Outreach Ministries.

Bethesda Outreach Ministries seeks to provide godly homes for children who have been orphaned because their parents have died from AIDS. Currently, almost 30 children are living in family settings at Bethesda.

Pray for the missionary staff as well as national houseparents who are caring for the children and the expansion of the ministry.
