Nigeria (MNN) — Although Nigeria’s military has pushed Boko Haram from many areas it previously controlled, it hasn’t been able to stop the terrorists’ attacks, reports The Voice of the Martyrs Canada (VOMC).
In recent weeks, Boko Haram has killed nearly 100 people in attacks stretching from Maiduguri to Borno State to Madagali in Adamawa State, Nigeria. These attacks come at a time when Nigerians are already facing another harsh front, the Harmattan winds.
Additionally, the terrorist group continues to carry out suicide bombings and raids not just in Nigeria, but also in the neighboring countries of Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. And now, it’s death toll is well over 15,000 people, not counting the many others who are held captive.
Furthermore, Boko Haram purposely targets Christians in Nigeria and its surrounding countries. Nigeria has one of the highest rankings for persecution, listing at #12 on the World Watch List (WWL). The WWL is a ranking of the top 50 countries, by Open Doors USA, where Christians face the most severe persecution for their faith.
However, despite Boko Haram’s terrors, Nigeria’s military has been able to free hundreds of its captives. But there are still many others awaiting their day for liberation, such as the Chibok schoolgirls.
In April of 2014, Boko Haram abducted 276 schoolgirls in Chibok. Since then, some have escaped, but there are still 200 girls being held captive. As for their whereabouts or their health, nothing is known.

But even in dark times, hope is found in Christ. During this dark time for Nigeria, please pray for the Christians and many others who continue to endure Boko Haram’s brutality.
Pray also, if you would, for Boko Haram members to come to know Christ as their Savior.
And lastly, pray for the Chibok schoolgirls and others who are held captive by Boko Haram.
