Box of Love campaign ministers to inner city families

By November 6, 2008

USA (MNN) — Here's Life Inner City is gaining opportunities to minister through the "Box of Love" campaign. By providing a full Thanksgiving meal to needy inner-city families, believers gain an open door to share the hope of Christ. God's love is transforming many lives and families through this ministry.

Partnering churches determine the neediest families in their neighborhood and distribute boxes accordingly. A full Thanksgiving meal comes in the box, including a 12-lb turkey, ham or chicken, potatoes, stuffing, vegetables and cranberry sauce. Other food items such as fruit and desserts are also included, and the meals usually last several days.

Many have come to know God through this ministry. A complete New Testament and Christian literature are distributed with the boxes, and many attend their local church after receiving a "Box of Love."

Married to a drug dealer, a woman named Rani had begged for money from distant relatives in order to provide food for herself and her daughter. After receiving a box, Rani accepted Jesus as her Savior and now attends church regularly with her daughter.

Less than $150 provides boxes for four families. Campus Crusade for Christ and Here's Life hope to reach more than 10,325 families this year. If you'd like to help reach this goal, please click here and use the code LOVE08.
