Bringing Bibles to the border

By April 30, 2025

Mexico (MNN) The state of Chihuahua, Mexico, which borders the US, is known for high levels of organized crime, especially human and drug trafficking. Jason Woolford with Mission Cry says his ministry has full time missionaries on the ground there.

“We’ve distributed tens of thousands of Bibles already, and we’ve just ordered an additional 50,000 copies of the New Testament,” he says.

The Spanish scripture will be freely distributed to families in Chihuahua, and also:

“Going right in and ministering to those that are possessed or oppressed by the devil himself in doing some of this wicked stuff,” Woolford says.

Each copy of the New Testament also includes discipleship material and practical resources for readers.

“We found that when you do distribution of the full Bible, people usually start at Genesis, Exodus, and then they stop at Leviticus,” Woolford explains. “So our hope in sending this very strategically is that people will make it through the Gospels.”

He says it’s important to bring the message of faith to discourage mere religiosity.

“This is God himself, the Word of God that doesn’t return void, and we’ve seen it change the hearts and minds and eternities of people who’ve read it.”

For example, when two men were met by Mission Cry staff during an attempted illegal border crossing, missionaries gave them Bibles and pointed them to the Lord.

“One of them returned back to his children that he left, and the other went back to Honduras saved and a Christian going to be an evangelizer in that area,” Woolford says. “It is so powerful what is happening on so many levels with God’s Word that doesn’t return void.”

Please pray for the ministry of Mission Cry. Pray that necessary funds would be provided, and pray that workers would be physically and spiritually protected. If you’d like to financially contribute to this effort, you can do so at the Mission Cry donation page.
