Christians in Ghana are hungry for copies of God’s Word

Ghana (MNN) — How hard would it be to share the Gospel with someone when you don’t have any Bible whatsoever? Scripture memorization helps, but nothing replaces studying and referencing all of God’s Word!

Mission Cry ships containers filled with good-quality, used Bibles and Christian books to countries like Ghana where believers desperately need copies of Scripture in their homes.

Rev. Jason Woolford, President of Mission Cry, says, “Ghana is very Christianized…. But a majority of those people are attending a church where the pastor doesn’t even own a Bible.”

Ghanaians are hungry for copies of the Word. Even though the Christian literature distributed by Mission Cry is in English, the official language of Ghana is English so most of the population can speak and read it.

The Bibles and Christian books are also reaching those in Ghana who don’t know Jesus.

Although Ghanaians are around 70% Christian, another 20% are Muslim and represent a key mission field.

Woolford says, “It seems like these last two shipments have seemed to make their way and give us favor in some of those northern parts of Ghana. In Akweteyman where there’s a large population of Muslims, we’ve had favor going in and distributing the Word of God in these areas and seeing people open to the Gospel, the one true and only Bible, the Holy Bible. So we’re excited about that.”

Mission Cry works with a local missionary in Ghana to distribute Scripture and Christian literature. “We’ve been distributing now to the tune of over $10 million in donated Bibles and Christian books just through him in that area [of Akweteyman] over the last 14 years.”

You can donate Christian books and Bibles to Mission Cry and have an eternal impact in Ghana!

“We’re taking ground back and reaching Muslims,” says Woolford. “So first, pray for those people that give their life and turn from Islam and come to Christianity.”

Pray also for protection over Mission Cry and their ministry partners as they reach into challenging or even hostile areas with the Gospel. Thank the Lord for Ghanaian believers’ desire for the Word!
