By January 3, 2007

USA (MNN)–Thousands of college students are beginning the new year with a passion. The Passion ’07 conference kicked off Monday and runs through Thursday in Atlanta, Georgia.

Some 21,000 students from 49 states and 32 countries have gathered for a week of worship and dedication to discipleship and ministry. Organizers are asking students to reach into the pickets and give what they can to help people across the globe.

They hope to raise money for a variety of projects from wells in Africa to translation work in Indonesia. They are hoping to raise some $500,000.

Several musicians are performing this week, including The David Crowder Band, Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman. Speakers include Rev. John Piper and Beth Moore.
