Compassion Sunday is coming

By April 2, 2013

USA (MNN) — Thousands of children around the world will receive physical and spiritual assistance in a few weeks, and you and your church can be a part of it.

The special event is called Compassion Sunday. It's an annual event sponsored by Compassion International that draws the attention of the Church to the needs of the world's poorest children.
This is your opportunity to share your heart for the poor with those who could help change their lives forever.

Compassion International is praying that 10,000 children will find hope and a new life story on this very special day. Ministry leaders are praying that with God's blessing and the participation of sponsors like you, perhaps even 15,000 children could be sponsored!

The official date for Compassion Sunday this year is April 21, 2013 (but you can choose any date that best suits your church).

It's pretty easy to participate:
• Share a brief presentation in your church service (5 to 10 minutes).
• Show a short video (4-minute or 2-minute version).
• Invite others to sponsor children.

To Get Started:

  1. Order your free Compassion Sunday Planning Guide.
  2. Gain permission from your church leader.
  3. Register your event.

Whether you choose to do a 5-10-minute presentation, or make Compassion the focus of your full worship service, Compassion has the materials you need to help.

The event is something that can be a springboard to orphan ministry in your church or supplement what you're doing already.
