International (MNN) — How many times have you wanted to make a difference in the world, but didn’t know where to start? Begin by dusting off your bookshelf.

Christian Resources International book missionaries are impacting lives around the world by donating their gently-used Christian books and Bibles.

Thousands of churches, pastors, and Christians who can’t afford Bibles or Christian books send in requests every day, hoping they might receive the Word of God.

CRI Executive Director Jason Woolford says, “We’ve been able to send nearly $6 million worth of free Bibles and Christian books to over 15 nations just this year.”

Some of these nations include Hong Kong, South America, Africa, and India.

Most recently, they sent $3 million worth of free Bibles to people in the Philippines at a conference held in the Cuneta Astrodome, where around 4,000 people showed up.

Seven hundred of those people were pastors, who showed up to hear the sermon and receive the Word of God for free. After the sermon, there were two lines: one with rice and sardines, the other with Bibles. Every pastor went for the Bibles first.

In the upcoming year, CRI plans to hold more conferences with Bible giveaways. Two of them will be held in Galway, Ireland, and Kerala, India.

Though CRI receives the Christian books and Bibles for free, shipping is quite costly. For book missionaries looking for an even more active way of donating than giving away their used books, a donation of just $35 dollars a month can send nearly $500 worth of free Bibles and Christian books around the world in a year.

This is giving the Word of God to people who have never seen a Bible but hunger for it.

Those who donate receive something in return. Woolford said, “They’re going to get a bookmark, and now before it doesn’t sound too exciting, it’s absolutely amazing because that bookmark has a stamp on it from Africa, India, multiple places of the 170 nations that we’ve reached with the Word of God.”

Each stamp comes off of letters from Christians who have requested and now received free books or Bibles. Bookmarks are a great reminder to read the Word of God, and a reminder of the impact made from the donation.
