Float trips bring people closer to God

Russia (MNN) — Rafting and discipleship training go hand in hand in Russia.

Leon and Donna Duell are missionaries with Association of Baptists for World Evangelism in the country. They lead float trips down local rivers for both believers and unbelievers.

In July, they led a trip for pastors, teaching a course on Survival Skills based on 2 Corinthians. 23 people participaed in the six-day excursion on a nearby river.

In August, the Duells hosted a trip for five unsaved teaching students who attend a college where the couple often speaks. During the five-day trip, the students were able to practice their English and interact in Russian, as well. This was an incredible opportunity
to build relationships that may lead the students to attend the local church and learn more about Christ. The ultimate goal is to see these students come to faith in Jesus
Christ.

This summer they were also able to host a work-team from their church to help rebuild an existing church in the town of Solicomsk.

Three-year residence permits will allow the Duels to maintain and expand their current work.
