Get-to-Know Jesus Camp brings Gospel to the disabled in India

India (MNN) — A group of outcasts is "getting to know Jesus" in India.

Donna Glass with India Partners says over 40 physically-disabled people came to a "Get-To-Know Jesus Camp" held by one of their cohorts.

"There were at least 10 disabled persons who rededicated their lives to Christ," says Glass. Another six placed their faith in Christ for the first time.

The camp is part of Jesus Enables Ministries (JEMs), a registered independent ministry exclusively for disabled persons.

"This is an intense time where these disabled persons are given the opportunity to get away and have a whole weekend devoted to learning more about Jesus," says Glass.

Pray that they will want to know more about the God who loves them.

Finding hope in Jesus is often a foreign experience for people who don't even have a place in India's caste system.

Glass says, "The disabled are lower than the Untouchables, or the Dalits."

In addition to Get-to-Know Jesus camps, JEMs reaches out to the disabled community through Get-to-Follow Jesus Retreats, fellowship days, home visits, mentoring, and a newsletter called "JEMs Light."
