Iran (MNN) — Ahead of February 14, opposition leader Reza Pahlavi called for a Global Day of Action in solidarity with Iran’s Lion-and-Sun Revolution.
More than a million Iranians and supporters joined worldwide. The largest crowds gathered in Munich (250,000) and Toronto (350,000), alongside large demonstrations in Melbourne, Athens, Tokyo, London, and Los Angeles.
Farshid Mehdi from Trans World Radio says, “They [participants] want everybody in the world to know that Iran is different from the Islamic Republic of Iran. Iran is different from this government and these Revolutionary Guards.”

Pahlavi also took part in the Munich Security Conference, representing democratic Iran and urging intervention to stop the killings. Mehdi recalls Pahlavi also mentioning that the Islamic Republic government must be removed, and that the Iranian people must decide Iran’s future.
The event meant a lot for Iranians inside the country, who cannot openly protest due to severe persecution. “When people came out protesting in Iran, they [government] killed more than 40,000 people in two days,” adds Mehdi.
Though protests still occur locally, including people shouting support for Pahlavi from their windows.
“They are protesting. They say, ‘We don’t want this regime. We don’t want Islam anymore,’” says Mehdi.
The disappointment in Islam and the deep need for hope are opening many hearts to Christ.
TWR’s Persian World Radio platform brings that hope beyond this world. “We have a large harvest and a big-hearted people — they are so open to the Gospel. We must be ready to reach them and share the true God, because they are disappointed in the God they once knew,” Mehdi adds. Visit their website to learn more!
Find your place in the story! The Iranian people need your prayers, and the government knows their power — if it were meaningless, believers and the church would not be persecuted, Mehdi adds.
“Now I understand why they [government] are afraid: when two Christian people come together in Iran and pray, they are afraid because they lose power when we pray,” says Mehdi.
Support the Iranian people through prayer, advocating for change, and encouraging accountability from leaders.
“Pray in the name of Jesus, that the power of Satan is broken and freedom comes to the country,” urges Mehdi.
