Help free Sudanese Christian sentenced to death

By May 23, 2014

Sudan (MNN) — Violence continues to bring fear and anxiety to Christians in Sudan.

Facing intense persecutions every day has caused some to lose hope and some to stand strong through trials.

Meriam Yahia Ibrahim is a 27-year-old Sudanese doctor due to have her second baby.

After facing many pressures and refusing to renounce her Christian faith, Meriam was condemned to death by hanging.

Will you help keep this brave Christian woman alive?

Open Doors ministry has written a letter to send to key officials in Sudan concerning the release of Meriam.

Part of the letter states, “I call upon the government of Sudan as state party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights to respect Mrs. Ibrahim’s right to freedom of religion by allowing her to freely practice her Christian faith. I therefore appeal that you ensure that both sentences against Mrs. Ibrahim be rescinded, and that she is freed immediately and unconditionally so that she and her child can be reunited with her husband.”

Open Doors encourages you to read the guidelines and information posted along with the sample letter (click here) before sending it. Open Doors asks you NOT TO MENTION OPEN DOORS in your letter and to send only the letter found here.

You can help fight for Meriam’s life by sending this letter to the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and your local Sudanese Embassy/Consulate with copies to the Minister of Interior. (Click here for the respective addresses and scroll to the bottom of the page.)

Pray that Meriam and other Christians suffering the same sentence would be strong and rely on Jesus Christ.

I am glad to tell you that Jesus brings life and hope and Love to those that come to Him. You bring hatred, suspicion, depression ad death.

  • I pray that the love of Jesus Christ, our Savior, will fill your heart and open your eyes.

Like 21:12-19 NIV, And Jesus said…

“But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you. They will hand you over to synagogues and put you in prison, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. And so you will bear testimony to me. But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. Everyone will hate you because of me. But not a hair of your head will perish. Stand firm, and you will win life.”
