Hundreds hit by devastating floods in Costa Rica

By May 13, 2004

Costa Rica (MNN)–Costa Rica’s population is under a red alert, following heavy rains and severe flooding in the north this month.

The area already has 40-percent of the month’s average rainfall. With grounds already saturated, the floods were expected. However, published media sources say those facing the direct impact were those least likely to be able to recover.

World Vision teams in Costa Rica are partnering with the Red Cross to providing relief. World Vision teams will be helping with the distribution efforts, while continuing ongoing development activities.

While World Vision doesn’t actually have sponsored children from the Limon area, they have helped the population from time to time.

Teams are gathering shirts, children’s shoes, and antibacterial soap for distribution, among other crisis supplies.

They represent Jesus Christ in their work with the people they are helping. Pray that hearts respond to the love of Christ.
