‘JESUS’ film gearing up for major project

By April 11, 2013

USA (MNN) — The numbers are staggering. The JESUS Film Project is the Gospel of Luke put to film or video. It's been translated into more than 1,100 languages, billions of people have seen it, and more than 200 million people have made decisions for Christ. Over the years, though, JESUS Film leaders discovered there was something missing.

The JESUS Film's producer of The Paul Project is Eric Foster. "The Paul Project came from a desire from the leadership here at the "JESUS" film to go farther than just sharing the Gospel and having people make an initial decision for Christ."

Since the "JESUS" film works in remote areas, Foster says, "We find that once people in remote areas find Christ, they need that foundation of biblical truth to build their life upon." He continues, "Most of the people we work with are in areas where there is a high illiteracy rate. So, we needed a film-based discipleship ministry tool that would help people be grounded in their faith, but also help church planters do their work."

That's when the leadership came up with the idea of The Paul Project. "[It] is a feature film, a discipleship series, and printed Bible studies that use Paul's life as a basis for sharing the Gospel and helping people grow in their faith," says Foster.

The intent is to translate these new resources into the major languages of the world, but those haven't been determined yet.

The Paul Project is in the script-writing phase right now, and Foster says you can help. "This is the biggest project that we've undertaken here at JESUS Film since the making of the "JESUS" film itself. And we need to bathe this in prayer for every step: from ideas in script writing to production to post-production to translation. The entire process needs to be bathed in prayer."

They're looking for 1,000 people to pray fervently for 1,000 days. You'll receive a weekly e-mail, a video e-mail every other week, plus there will be Facebook and Twitter feeds to help you stay in the loop.

The cost of the project is unknown right now. That will be determined on the script, production, and other details, but investors will be needed.

If you'd like to be one of the 1,000 people praying for 1,000 days, just send an e-mail to: [email protected], or click here. After that, be watching for stories on Mission Network News as we continue to follow this incredible undertaking.
