Missions team witnesses a miracle

Mexico (MNN) —
God does provide. A missions team that went on a shoe-delivering trip to Oaxaca, Mexico saw the hand of God at work.

Businesses, churches, organizations, and schools throughout Texas and Tennessee came together to collect shoes. Over 50,000 shoes and socks were donated for Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls. The shoes collected would go to children in the United States and around the world. One of those places was in Mexico. Buckner International sent a team of people to deliver the much-needed shoes to the children.

The first day of delivering shoes went well, but on the second day the team realized they had a problem. They would not have enough smaller-sized shoes due to the large group of children that showed up.

Upon discussing the situation with the team, Buckner Mexico Director Juan Carlos Millan made a decision. He would take down all the names of the children that did not receive shoes and deliver shoes for them the next week.

Seeing the kids go home without a pair of shoes made the team members sad. One team member recalled, "We were running out of shoes quickly, and at the end of the first group there were five pairs of size 18's…. There were four pairs of boy shoes and one pair of girl shoes."

With 27 kids, all with their old shoes already off, the members saw that they were going to have to start writing down their names. "I just started praying, 'Lord, PLEASE let each of these kids somehow get a pair of shoes.'"

The team started fitting the children with shoes, knowing the inevitable was going to happen. Some kids would leave there without shoes. "Before I knew it, we were on the last couple pairs of shoes for the kids, and I looked around and there are 20+ kids sitting around with shoes!" The busyness took hold of them, and they did not even realize that the shoes were fitting every single one of the children.

It did not make sense that every single one of the kids received a pair of shoes in the correct size. Looking at the bag with size 18 shoes, the team could not believe it. Inside the bag were five pairs of boy shoes and 5 pairs of girl shoes. They ended up with more shoes then they started with!

"It was the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life. It's truly a miracle. A Miracle of God. It was not like they said, 'Oh here is another bag.' There were no small sizes. I can't explain it except for God just provided."
