New Tribes Missionaries fight a yellow fever outbreak.

Guinea (MNN)–People continue to die from yellow fever in western Guinea. The government has responded with a large-scale vaccination program.

According to reports from the World Health Orgnization, the intent is good, but because the roads are often nearly impassable, the practicality of the distribution has proven a challenge. There is also a difficulty in keeping the medicine refrigerated as they travel from village to village.

New Tribes Missionaries< /a> have gotten involved with the distribution. NTM’s Ginny Bryant is helping the health workers by mixing the medication together and filling the syringes. With her help, says New Tribes, 800 syringes were filled in a single 24 hour period, and distributed to several different villages.

However, the outbreak has been emotionally draining on the missionaries in the Kimiya region. The team reports feeling helpless when they take one of the villagers to the hospital. Sickness and death make the need to share Christ very real. Pray for the missionaries’ strength.
