Trinidad (MNN) — An American missionary couple who were ministering to young people in Trinidad, were shot by thieves who robbed them at their rented home in central Trinidad.

Kevin Prince, 48, and his wife, Susan Prince, 46, received non-life threatening injuries in the shooting. The couple, formerly from Michigan and Texas, was shot when Susan tried fighting back when her purse was taken in the drive-way of their home.

The couple was returning from a church meeting Sunday at around five when they were attacked. They work with “Youth With A Mission” and partner with a Trinidad-based church group.

Trinidadian pastor and Vice President of Youth With A Mission, Farouk Mohammed, expressed shock at what had happened.

Police have since launched a massive nationwide manhunt for the suspects. From descriptions given, at least two of the five men involved in the shooting are teenagers.
