Protests grow in Ukraine

Ukraine (MNN) — Over a million people continue protesting in Ukraine. The unrest started as a result of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich failing to sign a trade agreement with the European Union. Instead he’s aligning the country with Russia. Those in the streets say they won’t leave until Yanukovich resigns.

President of Russian Ministries Sergey Rakhuba says the protests took a turn recently. “They demolished a figure of Lenin, one of the main monuments of Lenin that represented the former Soviet rule over Ukraine and other former countries of the former Soviet Union.”

That demolition had another effort. “The government is saying,” says Rakhuba, “because of this demolition, the protestors also show that they’re violent.”

Rakhuba says the government is now poised. “The government is bringing riot police and surrounding all of the locations where protestors are. I really want the global Christian family to join us in prayer that there will be no bloodshed.”

It’s not expected to ease. Rakhuba says, “The opposition has been very firm on calling on the President of Ukraine to resign, and they’re calling for new elections.”

The protests, however, have created another ministry opportunity for Russian Ministries’ trained Next Generation Church Leaders there. That why they’re being asked “to print 100,000 copies of the Gospel of John that these young Christian leaders will be able to distribute among the protestors in Kiev. We believe the Gospel will transform lives of individuals, of families, communities, and an entire nation.”

You can help bring the Prince of Peace, Jehovah Shalom, to the desperate protestors. “We need $50,000 to print 100,000 copies of the Gospel of John. Every $100 will help us provide 200 copies of the Gospel of John.”
