‘Purpose Driven’ to mobilize one billion foot soldiers for the Gospel

USA (MNN) — Rick Warren, author of the best selling book, “The Purpose Driven Life” and founding pastor of Saddleback Church in the United States is embarking on a strategy that could have significant impact for global evangelism.

Andy Hein is Mobilization Pastor at Saddleback. He says Warren outlined a plan that they’re calling the PEACE plan. “It is mobilizing every believer to live on mission in a strategic way to attack, what Rick believes, are the five global evil giants.” Those include; spiritual emptiness, lack of servant leaders, poverty, disease and lack of education.

PEACE is an acrostic for, planting churches, equipping leaders, assisting the poor, caring for the sick and educating the next generation.

Hein says PEACE isn’t a church wide initiative, it’s a small group training initiative that helps believers start reaching out at home first. “Once a small group has done that in their own Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, that small group can go to another country, connect with a church in that country. We become trainers and equippers for them to be able to do the PEACE Plan in their own context.”

The outreach never stops it just continues to multiply until the whole world is reached.

Hein says this will give Christians the training they need to obey the Great Commission. “Christians in churches have relied heavily on the missionaries to get the job done. And, what Rick wants to see that the billion Christians really engage in the battle in a strategic and intentional way where we can see the job of the Great Commission really done well.”

Saddleback church will be launching the PEACE Plan in their small groups in October. PEACE Plan curriculum is expected to be released to churches next year.
