USA (MNN) — The annual Bright Hope International 'Run For Hungry Children' saw a record number of participants running or walking to help provide food, education and hope to children around the world.

The race, which took place 10 days ago, was held in four different locations in Illinois: Hoffman Estates, Springfield, West Chicago and Woodstock.

1347 people participated in the 5K Run/3K Walk and raised $104,626,  to brighten the future of orphans and vulnerable children globally.

Bright Hope is already preparing for next year’s race, set for May 15, 2010, and hopes for even more record numbers.
