Set Free welcomes new U.S. leader

USA (MNN) — A new leader takes the helm at Set Free, a spiritual freedom ministry based in West Michigan.

Steve Vander Molen is now serving as the Director of Set Free USA.

“I was working with a well-known corporation called Gordon Food Service. That was my career for 37 years, and I held several different roles,” Vander Molen says.

“As I was closing out my career there, I became more aware of Set Free, and shortly after I retired, I started volunteering. I saw the Holy Spirit in a mighty way [through] freedom appointments during this time.”

It didn’t take long for the leaders at Set Free to recognize their new volunteer’s potential.

“After about two and a half years of [volunteering,] our Executive Director [Dean Vander Mey] approached me and asked if I would join the team full-time,” Vander Molen says.

“After prayer and time alone with God, I felt called to the ministry here, and I’m excited to be a part of the team today.”

Set Free started in 1995. Nearly 30 years later, it’s encountering some growing pains.

“The demand for our services continues to increase, so a big area of focus for me is to add more volunteers so we can respond to the significant demand,” Vander Molen says.

Your guidance and support can make a lasting impact as you help others break free from the chains that have held them back.

You might be a good fit for a brand-new Set Free USA initiative.

“As I was [volunteering,] I always had the question in my mind, ‘What’s next? Where do men and women go after being set free?’” Vander Molen says.

“We have crafted a vision to increase our focus in this area, to help men and women walk free so they can move into living free. We hope and pray that when they get to that point, they’ll become volunteers and help set others free.”
