St. Luke’s received special award

By February 27, 2009

Greece (AMG/MNN) –The AMG International St. Luke's Hospital in
Thessalonica, Greece, has finished an expansion and renovation that has doubled
the available floor space and updated the medical services offered by the
facility.

The last few months have seen
record numbers of patients come, and now that number exceeds 2,000 patients a
month. In addition to the medical treatment–and just as importantly, those who
come have the opportunity to experience the spiritual healing that only Christ
provides.

This past December we received a
recognition letter from HOPE for Europe, an evangelical network that promotes
activities which advance the cause of Christ throughout Europe. The letter was
signed by Jeff Fountain, Chairman of the HOPE for Europe Round Table.

Fouhtain wrote, "St. Luke's Hospital has been
chosen as one of three recipients for the 2008 HOPE Award, presented annually
by HOPE for Europe to a person, group, or project which embodyies the message of
biblical hope in Europe… and also values partnership, networking, integrity,
and transformation.

"You have our warmest
congratulations, and on behalf of the HOPE for Europe Round Table, we want to
thank you for the inspiration and hope the work of your hospital is bringing to
many in Greece–and we hope through the news of this award to many beyond
Greece. The 2008 Award is also being presented to two other Christian medical
institutions, the SGM Langenthal Klinik in Switzerland and the Evangelical
Hospital in Barcelona, Spain. We want more people across Europe to be made
aware of the groundbreaking work each of these institutions is doing in the
field of Christian healthcare…

"Since 2002, the award has been
presented to projects and persons from Belarus to Portugal. Our aim is to express
appreciation to those who have demonstrated practically the hope of the Gospel
in various corners of the continent, and to make others aware of such
commendable efforts for their encouragement and inspiration.

"Unfortunately, the award is not
accompanied by a large cash endowment, as is, for example, the Nobel Prize! It
is simply a humble recognition of those who deserve to be put in the
spotlight."

A delegation from HOPE for Europe
will travel to Thessalonica on March 18, 2009, to officially present the award
to Dr. Demosthenes Katsarkas, Director of St. Luke's.
We praise the Lord for how he has been using St. Luke's.
Pray that many more lives will come to know Christ because of this outreach.
