(Sudan)–Our newscast begins today in the Sudan where there are reports that refugees from the Christian South, face arrests and incarceration in the north. Although this has been a fairly common practice in a decades long civil war, Voice of the Martyrs’ Gary Lane says there are other more sinister practices developing. “What is common practice for the government in Khartoum, is to use food as a weapon against people that are fleeing the fighting. They will reward them with food to get them to ally themselves with the government, or to deter them from allying themselves with the opposition.” Lane says their outreach is continuing. “Despite these hardships, and despite all the atrocities, I have seen no evidence of the Gospel being deterred at all. As a matter of fact, I have seen the efforts to spread the Gospel increase, and the Christians in the South are digging in their heels, remaining steadfast and strong in their faith. This is not deterring them at all.”
